Cross ram intakes on a small block

I love the idea and the intake looks cool, but sorry that hood scoop looks like someone cut a kitchen trash can in half and stuck it on there.

Anybody running a cross ram with 2 four barrels on a small block? Other than being totally cool looking is there a benefit? I have a lead on a cross ram intake and want to know if it's worth the time and expense (Yes it's expensive)
I have them on my TA 416 with 2 x Super Snipers down low idle is not terrific but acceptable the Fitech 6 pack has much smoother idle at high RPM the STR12 runs better

I always wanted to do a big block with the longhorn cross rams and put the carburetors on 6-in risers so they both popped out of the hood in two unusual positions.....
But I like the unusual...

Damn that voice command! I got it corrected so it sounds like English again...

I don't think you run multiple carbureted systems or any reason except they're just really cool. If you don't like tinkering and tuning don't bother. But if you want something rare that can be made to run like a bat out of hell then go for it.

You run multiple carbs because they make more power. Anything else just makes you a poser. Like the blower guy who has his junk lope at idle. POSER.

Please post pictures of your own personal multi-carb setup I would love to see what sets you apart from everyone else running multi-carbation so we know that we're not so-called posers

I bet it would be a tuning nightmare to get two snipers idling and transitioning well on that. I’d use carburetors.

So I've been running this set up on my well driven show car since 2005. It has 2 500 Edelbrock Performers (AFB style). It runs great and once warmed up is perfectly driveable on the street (it is a cold natured beast with no manifold heat). I have friends that run a MaxWedge in stock eliminator so they had a set up to balance the carbs when I first put it on. I think if I were going to do this today I'd try the Edelbrock AVS IIs. One big heads up. Out of the box these things had a tendency to puddle gas in a couple spots in that big plenum. The result is backfire that can crack the top plate (and blow out the power valves in Holleys). Mopar figured this out a long time ago and any Direct Connection Engine book has a set of diagrams of things to modify inside the plenum BEFORE you use the manifold. Someone tipped me off to this and it wasn't hard (but you need somebody that is good at aluminum welding). I never have had those problems. If you can't find the diagram PM me and I'll send it along.

When I bought the manifold, I was told that I'd never be able to run it on the street - 20,000 miles later put the lie to that.

THANK YOU for the great pictures and WOW what a great looking set up. I'm real curious about your kickdown set up as I'm running an automatic as well. This is not going to be a throw it on and hope for the best scenario. Getting the intake was just the first step.

I actually like blower surge. And most people do too. LOL.

but I get what you’re saying.

That's the tall W/o, R/o version. Aftermarket
fun fact , they made 2 bases..(deleted other info--wrong context)... BuddyBarr on the bottom.. Mine had the home made bypass nipple too but it came out diagonally iirc (nope), ill have to look up some pix.
