Is this not the same scoop used on the Challenger T/A 's or is it only like the T/A scoops.
If you ordered the J54 performance hood for '72, was that the dual snorkel scoop along with the sizzler type hood graphic or was that another code?
7demon2, just wondering if you know for sure that the '72 Swinger 340 Specials received the stripes because of the 7 found, they all had the hood in body colour with the scoop in black - including mine. Now, only 5 of them were found with hoods - the other 2 were saved from the junk yard, thus, they were pretty much stripped. My fender tag doesn't have the J54 code stamped on it but from the couple original owners cars, when they bought them, they all had the single snorkel scoops so there's a good possibility they were dealer installed. But with that said, the fresh air holes in the hoods were factory - hmmm, yet another twist/question – gotta' love it...
I was thinking that too Jared, because i noticed the big hole would be covered completely by the scoop. Did you ever do this? How did it turn out?has any one cut out the entire center section out instead of just the holes. Not going for stock appearance! More air flow. Jared

I have to agree with you on the factory installing the hood scoop because they were essentially Demon hoods - just without the stripes maybe, just aren't enough examples ((5 found of the possible 65)) to make a 'call', so yeah, come on Canadians, if you know of one or knew of one, please post it. Oh, and the comment about the '71 340 Swingers being planned out better because they were a show of thanks for a couple dealers it actually is the opposite. The '71's were special ordered (Y39) by 2 dealers (Crosstown Motors in Edmonton and Crestview Dodge in Regina) while the '72's were gifts but still Y39 special ordered to Pembina Dodge in Winnipeg and again, Crosstown in Edmonton for blowing out a bunch of cars for head office - thus, less in known about them because they snuck-in the back door so to speak.
Back to the hood scoop thing, I'm posting fender tags from '71 and '72 (mine) Swinger 340 Specials showing the J54 code wasn't stamped on the '72's and showing what the factory punched on the '71's because not all of them got the twin scoops and the one's that did, got the 'hood scoops' stamp on the tag...

Has anyone ever seen one of these Twisters with the '69 'Cuda style scoops??? Is there anyone who makes repros of those scoops if someone was so inclined as to make them functional?Been lurking on this thread for a while, and I can finally contribute something. Below is a scan from a dealer brochure, showing the little scoops you referred to.
