Ebay GT45 + 5.9 Magnum + E85 blow thru

Latest update. Ran at the track last Friday. Got 3 passes in and on all 3 the engine sounded like it was cutting out or missing really hard. My first pass was the best with a 7.30x at 92mph. I installed the 2-step firmware on the Fitech unit and wired up the 2-step to the brake light switch. I was able to foot brake it on the 2 step and get 5psi before the launch. Very promising. Car is hooking good, going straight. Unfortunately the track wasn't clocking 60 foots that night.

Fast forward a week, I discovered that the miss was actually a loose vacuum hose going to the blow off valve. The BOV was loosing pressure and flapping up/down creating the sensation that the engine was missing. I replumbed my vacuum lines from the turbo to the manual boost controller, waste gate and bov. I turned up the pressure and got it to around 10psi, peaking as high as 11.3psi and took it for a few test blasts on the street. It's running great, power feels awesome and AFRs and timing are right on the money with the Fitech. Next tnt is in 3 weeks.

Was the 2 step feature recently added to fitech? And did you have to buy anything else besides a switch to make it work?

It's a fairly recent addition, but not sure when it came out. I just had to install the new ecu firmware and software on the hand held and then wire up a switch that puts +12v on the AC wire to activate it. I have mine spliced into the brake light for now. You have to contact the Fitech support to get the firmware. There are two different version for the 1200PA depending on how old your unit is.

sweet I'll have to get ahold of fitech and have them email the new firmware over. Can you adjust the rpm limit for the 2 step

got my firmware today, getting ready to install it. Thanks for the help, I would have never know this even existed.

Ok subcom got a few questions for ya. 1st my 2 step doesnt seem to work, I got the ac wire hooked to the positive side of the brake pressure switch when the brake is pressed so 12v going to the ac wire. I have the ac disabled in the ac setting is there something I'm missing. 2nd when you narrowed your rear end did you notice your rear shocks are almost bottomed out when you mounted them back up, my car seem to bottom the rear end out now that its been narrowed. If you can post a pic of your shock that would be great.

2-step: I didn't disable the AC on mine. I don't think. I would double check your 12v source. Maybe try a different one.

Shocks: mine didn't bottom out but it's possible that they are more compressed when you move them inward so they have even less travel now. I did put my front eye in the lowest position on my springs. That gives more upward travel on the shocks.

Been too hot to do much on the car lately but I decided to re-build the rad support and install a new radiator. I searched for ever to find something wider and shorter to possibly make room for an intercooler in the future and to shift the radiator over to the driver's side to free up space for the turbo inlet. I found this nice 2 core aluminum BMW M3 radiator on Ebay shipped to my door for less than $100.00. I've only tested it in the driveway but seems to keep things cooler than the old combo. It mated up fine to my Chevy HHS electric fan. I fab'd a new upper radiator support and will close everything up with sheetmetal once I'm happy with the fitment. I also plan on fabbing an air filter box/intake for the turbo inlet.

That radiator and fan fits nice!! So you moved the radiator away from the engine/more forward some? I need to do something like that so the electric fan will clear my downpipe.

I did. I originally had a Champion 3 core and was hell bent on running an electric fan. Nothing would fit the stock location w/o hitting the water pump pulley so I chopped out the upper and lower rad support and moved the radiator toward the grill a couple of inches.

cool. did you check length of a electric water pump? i don´t know for sure, but i think these are shorter than the stock one.

I've thought about going that route but wanted to see if I could make this combo work first.

Got a few runs in yesterday, only one decent one. 7.35 96mph. Fitech is still stubborn. Running really rich now and bogging the engine. This run was almost clean but still went rich briefly at the top of 2nd gear. This was at 7psi max. 60 foot still sucks also and I'm coming off the 2 step with about 5psi.

25-26 degrees.
That’s exactly what the truck and duster are at. I’m just started the duster tuning. I would see what 1 more degree got ya. After all you and me are at low boost,.... for now I’m gonna play around with timing also.

I tried bumping up the timing one degree on my last run but the Fitech went rich again (10.5:1) and the engine spit and sputtered down the track barley running an 8.0x.

Time for more boost!! That will help the rich condition

Note to self:
Working on tuning out my lean to super rich condition that causes the engine to sputter bad under boost hitting rich AFRs of 10.5:1. Increased the boost to around 10 psi and made the following changes to the Fitech which improved a lot;

Fast Accel 170 =60
Accel = 40
Dtps gain - 200
Dtps max - 195
CAM =4
AFR closed loop min and Max trim=15%
Reset fuel learns.

Side note. My cheapo $90 alum BMW radiator works fantastic! 95F and humid today and temp never went over 200F in stop and go traffic.
