Goodbye Torqstorm, hello Spoolius Ceasar

How much did the timing mark on the strap change? And where is it on the strap?

You should be. That’s haulin *** in a street car at 6000 feet of altitude.
This was 32° I believe. I was still messing with fueling, but this was a couple of wot passes on the highway next to my house.
E85 sure burns clean.

I don't think I took pictures of the 34 plug test. But the mark is just on the bend of the strap.

I have a buddy that's putting a turbo with capability of 2100 hp...in his 64 falcon with coyote

I forgot you’re running close to 12:1 compression on this thing. I’m surprised it wants that much timing, but the plug looks happy/safe to me! Have you verified the ethanol percentage of your e85?

Nah it's only 10.42:1. It had leaned out with the blower and melted things that aren't supposed to melt
Lol

Everytime.i pick up fuel I test it. So far so good. E85+ every time.

That plug looks extremely safe. You could probably add 2-3 degrees to your total. From some quick math;
30 less .5/psi after 2 on 7.1 psi.
(7.1-2) x .5 = 2.55
30-2.55=27.45 degrees.
I’d lock the timing at the track and play with it in 1 degree increments for best mph. Don’t worry about ET just run it out every time. Then build a new curve to get there for street driving.

9.2:1 on gasoline at 7psi, this pull was on 30 degrees. The timing mark was a touch to far around the bend to be completely safe in my opinion. I run this engine at 29 degrees at 10psi currently.

Well. One spring is about 6psi and the other is about 4. Not sure if maybe the piston was hung up in the wastegate. But after swapping them a couple times it seems to work just fine.

I couldn't handle the hater pipe... it was so obnoxious. Rattle your brain obnoxious.
So I fixed it.

My down pipe comes out in a similar spot. Was worried about fumes but it’s been fine.

Added a 2 step so I could leave on some boost. Definitely helped. Although I still need to add some more fuel for the back half. Starts to break up.
Car 660
7,094ft DA - 7.14psi max -top of the track this run was about .81-.82 lambda just starting to break up. As the night got cooler the breakup got worse. Time to adjust some holes.

Well, this year has been a bit of a **** show. Last August, I heard the car stutter and lean out (again), so I let out and drove back to the pits. But it didn't sound right.

I make it home and then check the oil filter, it's a total glitter fest. Oh well, at least it was the last track day of the year. Basically I take it apart, find the nuked bearings from detonation and then the surprise of melted pistons. I don't like these icon forged pistons, been through a couple of sets. Barely get lean and they melt the tops. I was tired of spending a bunch of money, So i swap out my other stroker crank (balance is for 10g lighter pistons, good enough for me). New bearings, New pistons, stainless gas ported rings. Fire this sucker up and it chooches like a coal train in 1889.
Narrow down the #1 cylinder just filling with oil. After months of fighting this sucker and finding out my trickflow heads had some bent valves. I find the oil control rings on the #1 cylinder got buggered up, fixed that put on my old CNC ported speedmaster heads. Get it all running and instantly strip a shaft stud and break the rocker shaft.:BangHead: FML. After some backyard engineering with a time-sert kit and a file, fixed the heads. Now my compression is down to about 9.45:1. I have given up on e85 for the moment since it's a pain to get, I'm now back on pump gas and modified my Brawler 950 for boost. It works pretty well, the plus side to all this is the pump gas. I don't have to worry about where to find fuel or making sure I take a trip to another state to pick up e85, It doesn't overheat and still feels peppy.
I am going to make a meth injection kit to add a mix pre-turbo, or tap the housing and add a nozzle so the meth has a chance to cool before it gets to the carburetor.

The struggle is real!

I don't like these icon forged pistons
Do you have the 2618 or the 4032 pistons? If you are still exploring alternatives, I have had excellent luck with Wiseco in another vehicle. It's 12:1 compression, 33psi of boost, roughly 900hp, for several years now. Semi-daily use and multiple passes, it's a damn good piston! No pepper on plugs, E85.

Remind me, have we talked about this issue with the Speedmaster heads? I can't remember if you're already aware or not - they don't machine the rocker shaft stands properly, and it causes this exact issue. It has resulted in many broken engines in this forum, including mine.

Sucks that E85 isn't readily available for you. It's a godsend of a fuel... Hopefully you can be happy with the meth injection.

Good luck, brother.

I believe they're 2618.. yea next go around I'm changing piston manufacturers.
I've had this issue with the speedmasters before but thought i had fixed the threads, so we'll see how it turns out. At least till my trickflows get fixed.

Currently I have a alignment and steering issue.. its just all sorts of jacked up and the guy at the shop isn't hopeful he can get the alignment done. I dunno, adjustable control Arms, adjustable strut rods, all the jazz. He's still not sure if he can make it work. Frustrating.

The Alignment came out pretty damn good. Much easier to drive.

I also decided since I've put the car back on pump gas, a water/meth system would be nice to have. So I have made my own kit.
I picked up a cheap washer fluid/overflow tank from amazon (Dorman), an AEM 200psi pump, 10gph Snow performance nozzle and 90 degree fitting. I'm not using a controller, but instead purchased an adjustable hobb switch, which turns on about 4psi. So far the system works, unfortunately no one in town has any inexpensive methanol that I can make a 50/50 mix with. So i'm currently working with -30f washer fluid, until I can get or make a real 50/50 mix.

and some video's from the Hot August Nights drags in Reno. It's only 300ft and in a parking lot that is about as smooth as gravel. But it's fun.

I bought the 4 pack of the Snows Boost Juice 50/50 meth/water mix and haven’t even used the first bottle completely. It lasts pretty long unless you’re daily driving and constantly spraying the stuff. It’s like $50 on Summit.

Yea. They just don't have it in stock at my location. I live down the road from a Summit. But that is what I'm going to order. Only way to make my own at a decent cost would be 55g drums of methanol amd some distilled water. But I don't think I'll use all 110ish gallons it would make.

At least for now the -30 fluid has at least 30% ish methanol in it. I might add another nozzle in the volute. I feel much better now about the air charge, I might just turn up the boost and find the limit of my transmission. Lol
