Hughes "retro fit" lifter not pumping up!

-
Noticed Hughes charged my credit card $68 for the new lifter they sent out to replace the one that would not pump up.
The invoice that came with the lifter clearly states "Balance due $0.00"
Upon looking at my credit card statement they turn around and charged me for it anyhow!

Maybe I'm missing something but why charge me for a lifter that I have already paid for?
What ...they don't believe the pictures I sent them or something?
Are they trying to pull a fast one?
Did they make a mistake and accidentally charge me?
The invoice hows that the lifter cost $54 the other charge was for shipping totaling $68
I have a roller cam so I need 8 lifters
54 X 8 = $432
The lifter kit .... all 8 lifters costs $399
???????
The way I look at it they need to pay me $68 for having to take the engine apart again.
I boxed up the faulty lifter and sent it back to them yesterday upon Hughes request.

Hughes will get a call today.

why did you send back the junk ones when ordering , for store credit ? i would have sent them back before ordering anything . just me .

I'm guessing they'll probably issue a refund when they get the defective lifter back.

You're right. I called them and that's what they are going to do. It's hard for me to understand why they would charge my card ....without permission... and then give me credit back after they get the lifter in hand. I guess it's a trust issue that Hughes don't have with their customers. They might have been screwed before or something of that nature.

I didn't order anything. I called them ... told Dave that I had a lifter that wasn't machined correctly... sent them pictures. He then sent out a replacement and told me to send the defective lifter back in the same box. Case closed. I was paying off my credit card last night and noticed they charged me for the lifter they sent out... the good one. Now after they get the lifter in hand they are going to give my money back. Hughes said nothing about charging me for the lifter. The invoice they sent with the new lifter said "Ending balance... 0.00"

I guess I'm just to old school and not up on this kind of stuff.... :D

I've been to Lowes, H Depo, or Canadian tire and seen many times packages of anything with half of the contents missing,,, I wouldn't send any product out without taking payment either. Then reimburse when I got the defective part returned. Don't see the issue.

Well Mulli, After about 3000 miles I too have become subject to the hughes crappy retro roller lifter problem in my 408. 2 of em won't pump up now. same bank different cylinders.

That Sucks!

The lifter on cylinder #3 wouldn't even pump up at all on my engine after initial fire up.

You can probably contact Dave "dickhead" Hughes but he probably just log it up as "manufacture operator error" just as he suggested to me. Then he'll send you out some lifters.
He doesn't realize how aggravating it is to break down a engine again.

have gone back to a sft cam and lifters after my experience with the **** hughes lifters.

Nope, I'm done with hughes...crane or crower it is.
Shoulda done that in the first place after reading your thread.
