If you didn't already know, some good news.

Funny thing is, the model they talk about is inline six powered. Not a V8. Doesn’t mean they couldn’t resurrect the 5.7 or put the 6.4 or HC in it, but I don’t think they are currently offered in the Charger.

LOL!! Maybe the arthritic pain med (Stellantis) is going to redo the 5.2/5.9

I read that Tavares was the one that was the push behind the cancellation of the Hemi. With that guy gone, many are looking at bringing it back. I doubt they scrapped the tooling entirely.

I just went to Ram.com and noticed all the trucks have the inline 6 only.

No new Ram for me. IDGAF what the HP rating of the inline 6 is.

Yeah, like I said- technical specifics are totally lacking. I just find it interesting that ICE is back on the table after having publicly committed to the "all electric" mantra.
I guess they decided that they want to actually sell some vehicles after all.

I personally would love to use an I6 TT in a light A-body. Inline's do have good attributes and if designed right, like the 2JZ, they have unlimited potential.

Some things that makes the Stellantis' 6-er a bowl of sour grapes is that it replaces the Hemi in production vehicles. Bad. Also, more sour grapes is that it's TT version's crate motor price is going to be priced high.

I just lspent the 30 minutes between these posts looking through some of the drag racing videos from Roadkill Nights 4 months ago. Stellantis' gave a bunch of people Hurricrate's to race there. All kinds of Mopars were swapped by mostly Youtube content creators. I hope there is some more development of the turbos and tuning because, from video evidence, these engines are pooches. Great Dyno numbers but when they are in a chassis they are verrry lackluster. They're only about 60 pounds lighter than an aluminum head/intake LA. I would rather have a Toyota I6 than this Fiat I6.

I truly felt the same way when General Motors came out with the turbo 4 in a full size 4 door Silverado. And you know I respect your opinion Mr. Rumblefish. Our daily drivers are G.M. all muscle cars MOPAR. Our old Ford farm truck that i was daily driving blew up and I used to be the service manager at the local GM dealership so I went to check out their trucks. The kid that detailed cars for me years ago was now the sales manager. He immediately put me in the new turbo 4. He was climbing an uphill battle as I would have never considered one. They let me drive it and keep it overnight as it was close to closing time. 80,000 miles later I'm glad I was able to get my bull head out of the way to buy this truck. I have had one service issue with it. (factory remote start) It gets excellent gas mileage, pulls good for what I need it for and it hauls ***. If I outlive this truck my next one will have a turbo 4. GO DRIVE ONE. If I was buying a 70 Cuda what engine would I want... 426 HEMI just because! but for my daily driver for Illinois winters and personal utility truck This turbo 4 is top shelf. Should they abolish a HEMI engine as an option...NO F&CKING WAY!

It's just that my curiosity was piqued by Stellanus backing off on solely electric or hybrid offerings and throwing a gas option back into the ring.
Time will tell as far as the whole Hurricane 6 vs hemi debate goes- The latest version of the hemi has had a good run (22 years and counting, impressive by any standard)- but we all knew it would have to end at some point. Heck, we'd still be driving 392 Firepower Hemis if we never moved on... not an entirely bad thought, but you know what I mean... At this point I'm just glad there will still be a RWD fossil-fuel-chugging option out there.

I read the only place to get a Hemi was Durango R/T, Durango HC, and 2500+ Rams.
I didn’t see any on Ram.com
I love inline 6 (Cummins Diesel) lol
They are very good engines aren’t they.

Thanks Jeff, I appreciate that.
I’d like to see a dyno graph of each engine’s output NA as well as both being turbo charged.

In my ‘18 Ram 1500, I haven’t had a need to think about adding boost. The in line 6 comes with it. Not an equal comparison. So, since the in line 6 is helped with twin turbos, it now makes me wonder what a pair would do on a HEMI.

After this long run of the current HEMI, the new HEMI could be developed with addressing any short comings they have now and made stronger in order to handle boost.

The smaller the engine (CID) the harder it works to perform the same job. Why go smaller in a truck?

Now my truck doesn’t see much “Work” at all. But it does every once in a while make it all worth while carrying big & or heavy loads. The up coming trips to the track trailering the car is done with ease and certainly easier than a smaller engine, boosted or not, it’s working easier.

Now you have me thinking & wondering about adding boost.

This, right here is what I keep trying to get people to understand, but it seems to fall on a deaf ears.
My parents recently had to replace their Chevy Equinox after it **** the bed with a hair over 110k miles. They were set on buying another f'ing Equinox, against my and my brother's advice. My brother got them a really smokin' deal on a 2024 Equinox with a 1.5 liter turbo 4 banger. To my mind, that's just too small a motor for that size of vehicle, maybe I'm just too old school. IDK

Yep, I see exactly what you're saying every day at the machine shop.

Stalantis didn't just throw a gas engine in the Charger at last minute. The new Charger body was designed from the begining for the gas inline turbo 6 and EV both. They just kept the gas engine option quiet and tried to hype up the EV version. Again gas engine is not a new thing for the new Charger. So this isn't a wow they decided to offer a gas engine all the sudden scenario.

Earlier this year they announced that 2024 Chargers would be EV only and 2025 would have the Hemi option. This was a stunt for the EV launch year sales. The Hemi isn't dead yet. It's just going to turn into this crazy expensive option. Like I pointed out, Durango R/T, Durango Hellcat, and Ram 2500 and 3500 are the only ones with a Hemi currently. I ain't gonna look it up but just to get a V8 in one of these is probably a $10k up charge. It will expand to Charger in 2025 so the sky isn't falling, it's getting harder to afford though.

The Hemi was never going to be an option in the Charger, but your dates are about right. The only engine options for the Charger outside the EV was the standard output I6 or the high output I6 and both weren’t supposed to be available until after the EV was rolling. They have move them up along with the Ramcharger truck, but nothing I have seen mentions the Hemi.

I’m not saying I know anything about what the factory is going to roll out, but I haven’t heard anything about the Hemi being an option. I have seen comments about them working on a new V8, but even that is so light on info that it doesn’t even have to be a Hemi.

Yep, brain fart. It was the I6 for the optional ICE engine in the Charger.
