Just needing some help

There isn't a nipple on the front of carb
Yup, after looking at your photo I had that wrong... Your hoses are hooked up right but apparently you are getting manifold vacuum at the ported vacuum port... It may be that the throttle plates are open to far.... If you were closer I'd be wanting to have a look but that ain't happening..

Got it running, sounds good, idles good.....then when I take it for a drive and start accelerating quickly it want to spatter and pop before taking off. Let it idle then and when I put it back in gear it tries to stall. Any ideas??

Are you letting it warm up pretty good? these old cars are not like modern cars turn the key and go.
Did this car set for a long time? bad fuel/water in fuel?
It's after it has warmed up that it acts up. While it is cold it will scream the tires. It sat for about 3 months. I drained the fuel tank and put fresh gas in before I started it the first time. Also new fuel filter.

Just found out the carb was rebuilt about 1yr ago and it is leaking gas from the gasket on top, went to parts store and bought carb gasket kit. Should I pull carb and

Any idea what caused this? When I can get it to start, that spot heats up instantly too hot to touch. The rest of the intake is cool to the touch.

What's between the 2 intake bolts? Looks like leaves?
Instantly too hot? There is a crossover there on bottom of intake that quite often will plug up with carbon.

Have you checked timing? Incorrect timing can cause overheating, but instantly has me wondering. Don't pull intake yet, someone more knowledgable will chime in.

I had it running after I changed the plugs 2 days ago, let it sit yesterday, and it will only start and run if I hold the flap open all the way and hold throttle 1/2 - 3/4 . I'm sorry it seems like I don't know what I'm doing, but most of my mechanical knowledge is on diesel engines (tractors and road tractors) basic knowledge of autos and pickup trucks. Thanks sooo much for all the help everyone!!

No, I've noticed that when I set the choke for initial start it won't automatically open once it starts. I know the timing is still off a little, but the water pump is the wrong one so it is covering the timing marks
