Magnum 360 build. (HP/tq?)

FWIW I prefer to give a "it'll feel like XYZ" more than specific numbers. Because at the end of the day that's what matters when you're actually driving the damn thing. 400 HP from a 360 feels completely different than 400 HP from a turbo 4-banger or even a 318 or 273. I've put together a handful of SB's and BB's usually close to stock or mild-to-moderately warmed-over. When I first joined this forum as a teenager with zero experience it was easy to fall into the trap of regurgitating magazine (nowadays YouTube/internet) builds and spewing numbers but once you build one yourself and "feel" what those numbers are they don't mean much.

The 360 in my Duster is "only" 450 crank HP extrapolated from chassis dyno numbers but that doesn't matter because it'll boil the 275-wide tires all day long through first gear and into second (with 3.55s in the rear end) and rev hard and fast to 6,000 RPM. It's enough to scare me when I stomp on the gas, that's enough for me.

That's my ramble, take it or leave it LMAO

How much did make It to the tire ?

My cousin grows apples. And no most top alcohol guys have teams that do all the work while they comb their hair for pictures.
How about if him and his wife and sons were the crew and manufactures is own blocks?

I'm not saying he's smarter, you probably know more about performance outside his class, my point is you made it if you don't race you can't have any worthwhile knowledge so with that logic higher levels of racing must make you even smarter. And I'm not saying I Know more than you but I can have nuggets of knowledge, humans have the ability to learn and me using grade six math and science ain't showing off cause how could basic math and science be thought as that.
If so that says more about you guys than me.

So you value hands on and race results good for you, I'd say most people with performance cars don't race and some like theory so everyone else way wrong that's a vary arrogant to view the majority of the hobby.

I like how you and the other one never gave any usable info in this thread.

You can read as many books about engine building, degreeing in cams, file fitting rings, porting heads, etc till the end of time. But until you pull up your pants and get your hands dirty all you are dishing out is second hand information. If you are blessed and have a good hands on teacher you are steps ahead but if he doesn’t step back and let YOU fail or succeed you are never a hands on teacher yourself.

I never done anything to a short block but i've done top end stuff it's not like I have zero experience, I've owned probably like 50+ cars over time all of needed work. I worked at my dads garage etc..
You don't know me

I probably would of done more if I partied less over the last 30+ years :)

I'm going to go out on the limb and say you probably pulled things apart and read/learned how to put it together and make it work.
That's what I did, trial and error along the way. More success than failure.
I still have the original Motor's manual my dad bought me in 1975 when I was 13. We could drive during daylight at age 14 back then.

I did similar. I took everything a part even our tv.

I bought ever performance magazine starting from like age nine/ten into my 30's My favorites anything to do with motors and the driveline I keep notes on them all. My other Uncle was a street racer with his built 340 duster, he built a lot of engines around town I was at his house every other day we would have very deep discussion about engines. I had a decent understanding about performance drivetrains by time I was 13, Plus worked for my dads Garage use to fix wiring for him a lot of the time, I tried putting a V6 in a chevette like at 12.
360 in a Lazer with a 300z rear in high school. First performance mod put a 340 top end on the family 76 318 D150 when 16. Etc..

We have but the whole message on useable advice was missed by the one arguing against it trying to prove themselves right when there wrong while using other peoples work to try and justify there position when they don’t have enough information to properly take an educated guess. Or even a half assed guess.

Since your bragging about family members and hinting (again) that there super into and do well in alcohol racing and seemingly lean on there triumphs as to suggest you gained a lot of knowledge via talking with them….

I could do the same but would t dare even lean 1,000,000 th of a degree in how you present it.

If I stood on that crappy moving mudslide of a ground you seem to think as stable granite, I’d have to get arrogant and say stupid stuff like;

“When you have family in the Hall of Fame of Drag Racing, then come talk to me!”

Perhaps you’ll one day sit back and re read all of this and take on a different view and go back to the books for a glass over and then get down and dirty putting some grease under your nails while working towards a go fast goal.

I’d wish you much success but you wouldn’t learn anything and probably if not for surely become intolerable with self assured arrogance.

My honest and truthful advice not just for you but for every reader here today, “Life’s short, get busy, get out there now!”

I can't hear him because he's not honest with intents he plays Jekyll and Hyde.

90% of the time I’m playing around out of boredom or laziness to do some work. I think if it came down to it 99.9% of us would enjoys each other’s company sitting down and having a few soda pops together

I have no problem with you, I don't think me and rumble are able to talk online for whatever reason, but ya I'm sure in person we all would get along with a few beers :)
