This week it's going to be pushing paper with a waterhose. Maybe a few touchups here or there, but much of it has been blocked and re-primed already,
very nice
yeah, I know. Horrible smog era 350 in there. Even a basic GM vortec crate would wake it up. It just not in the cards. I'm not all up on vettes, but i think late 70's early 80's are about the bottom for Hp'sGreat looking color, then it's going to need the horsepower to back it up
a shade or two darker thoughThe color has me thinking i might like it on my Duster
less pearl you mean? The vette hood has 4 coats of pearl, less coats= less purple, more to the blackish bluish side, but the flake still stands tall in sunlight. I had a test panel where I had done 1-5 coats and cleared, but I think it's buried out there in the mess of a garage I got going on.a shade or two darker though
Grounds? I'm not touching electrical. The red wire with the alligator clips on both ends scares me. lol Stepson who works on heavy equipment wants to be involved in the mechanical part. New brakes all around, tune up stuff, etc is already sitting here. Get FIL out here thinking it's not done, and have it sitting here spit-shined.I like it..... hard to beat these cars for the instant center.... Have fun with your grounds lol...

I will never ever complain about any other makes of car door innards, glass, and handles ever again. lol Rather mess with a benz that has electrical and air lines running in the door.I just sold my old vette, anything you know about cars, just throw it out the door.
Everything is backwards, making you think, what were the guys designing these cars smoking.
My car was a factory 4-speed so the cross-member that holds the trans in does not un-bolt, but a auto from the same year does.
That was my 4th and last chevy I will ever own.
Lol, It takes a whole lot of rubbing with 400. I'm wore out lol.Don't scratch yourself with 400 g. It will only leave a rash.
Your kidding right??? How the hell do you get the trans out then? I know, use an effing sawsall. LolI just sold my old vette, anything you know about cars, just throw it out the door.

Well thats effing dumb. All the crossmembers should be drop out style. Thats a mod i would be making, or id sell the car. Seems *** backwards to me. Come to think of it, a long time ago a buddy of mine had a 73 350 4 speed vette. It needed a clutch, and he mentioned to me that the crossmember was welded in. I think i said why the hell would they do that. He took it somewhere to get the clutch changed out.Shop manual says slide trans back as far as you can, remove bellhousing, flywheel than wiggle trans out, or pull motor.
Your "non-resto" is looking good!Still at it. The help came and helped with the brakes. Ended up having to get one new caliper, and re-rebuild 2 of the other ones he did the day before for the seals being in backwards. My father in law came by Wednesday and was happy with the way the car was shaping up and mentioned he was going to have stepson do a tune up when he got it back. So this week I've been busy with the tune up, oil change , set valves, etc because I don't want them climbing all over fresh paint. Last night put the hood back on and forgot how ill fitting it was. Low across the nose and high along the left fender. So reworked that and got it in prime. He has the original hood, but likes this one.....

Thanks! It's turned into way more work then anticipated, but it's almost there.Your "non-resto" is looking good!
Um, yeah. In the pic I posted of the busted up fender you can see the seam. I've never done one, but I don't think it wouldn't be all that difficult, and probably would have been easier. Tried to save him money where I could so he could get new tires , brakes, tune up, new weatherstrips, etc. The car just been sitting and needed a good going over. I picked it up on a trailer, but when I call him and tell him it's finished I want him to come here and drive it home.you are a brave talented soul!
I bought a 69 427 vette back bought mid 90's from "vette" guy with resto business n Ks, in the deal his bodyman wold come to Mo. and show me and the guy that did most of my bodywork "how" to replace the lower fenders, ( yes they came in 2 pieces! Ha) gel coat, etc ........ MY L AST VETTE!
interior? they put the radio n first and the rest of dash around that. replace radio? you guessed it.
the part about gluing the fenders together was easy, my car back then turned out nice, too bad it wasn't a 3 deuce car. I only got into it because I though the " then wife" would take an interest somewhat in my car thing if I had a vette or 2. WRONG! but i don't miss her. I have the best wife in the world now.Um, yeah. In the pic I posted of the busted up fender you can see the seam.
