where did u find the 4.71 ?? and what kind of intake ?? or does the blower have a carb bolt pattern so you dont need a blower in take?? heres a few pics of mine 340 6.71

amd you are going to need a little bigger tire,,

The manifold is a Bill Laney(Max Wedge) for a 6-71, the blower is Dyer's. There's an adapter plate to let the 4-71 sit on the 6-71 intake, that piece was like $350 alone. More tire? Wouldn't that equal less tire smoke? :)
Did you put in a bigger radiator? That doesn't look like the original.. Thanks for the pics Fish, nice ride 8)

I fabbed them myself. I bought a bunch of 90 degree 304 SS bends and 2 lengths of SS pipe and by cutting the bends and welding it in place piece by piece, I got it pretty much exactly the way I wanted it the first time.

Here are some more pics of them. Had some probs with the welder when I was welding the flanges and the collectors on, so the welds are not quite as nice as I would have liked them to be. Luckily the engine bay is rather tight and you don't really see that any more now that the engine is in, lol.

Sweet, I was wondering if I could do just the y from the headers and the down pipe just from prefab bends. If you can do complete headers with them then I may have a chance at 2 tubes.:-D

wow nice intake more pics??? never seen that piece,, my entire set up is an old school dyers,,,4bbl intake converted,,,

the radiator is suppost to be from a 69 340 dart,,outer deminsions are same as a 70s dodge van,,,, radiator was orignally a 3 row,, and the tanks had room for 4 rows,, so i had a 4 row core put in,,works great runs around 178 usually

If that radiator keeps it that cool, good deal! Mine's still the original V8 piece but I had to get the upper hose outlet repositioned so it's not aimed dead on at the upper blower pulley.
The intake is from Australia and was about $1050 with shipping. Only 3.7" tall and pretty stout.

ok kool a real small block blower intake,,,,how did u find it??? the guys company name is max wedge???[ i may be intrested in one of those,,, the thermostat location is killer,,, its a big problem on these motors,,/COLOR]

i agree with you there on the thermostat location,that is just the way my manifold is built! helps alot with the height!
 
Someone on here pointed me to a guy named Bill Laney a few years back. Talked to the guy on the phone in OZ and sent him a cashier's check. Great person to do business with- sent me pix of his house too. Kind of like, here's where your wonderful blower manifold was born

duster what type of intake do you have??? i curred my thermostat problem,,,i bought a new cast iron GM t stat housing,,had it surface milled it was warped bad right out of the box

then i had a guy machine the t stat housing to eccept the t stat in to the housing like a mopar t stat housing,,,there is another way, for any one intrested,,,,

its a custom manifold made out of a 88pound billet piece:)
dont have it at home just yet,have a machineshop doing it for me,but its almost done, was there looking at it just a few days back and was like a 5year old in a toy factory so dont have any pics of it, last thing he said to me was: dont tell anyone i can do this kind of jobb,its far to much work to make one to be worth it realy... he just took this as a challange and thought it would be a cool thing to try to make and gave me a very fair price on it as long as he would not have a set timeframe for it since he is doing this inbetwen other stuff when he has the time for it.

all ways are good to try! i dont know exatly what i will do for the housing just yet since i want everything else completed regarding the belt for the blower before i decid but i think i will make something myself:)

just keep in mind you need to run a t stat to keep it cool,,,not sure what position your t stat is going to be in ?? im assuming a small block???

if the t stat is in a stock position,, get your self a GM water neck,,it angles out the side not straight up like a mopar water neck,,,use the small t stat,,, and have the in take milled so the t stat sits down in the intake like a GM so you can use the GM water neck,,with no sealing problems,, if he can hand make an intake he can mill out for the t stat,,,

it sure is kind of wild but hopefully worth it, biggest reason for this is to keep it as low as possible, biggest problem even with the design chosen by me and the machinist is to be able to reach the bolts ataching the manifold to the heads, and there is not even an adaptorplate even with the kind of stupid boltarangement lysholm uses with the bolts only reachable from the bottom..

sure will get some pics im kind of excited about all this myself :)

yeah its a smallblock, thermostat will sit in the front of the manifold pointing forward kind of centered, the man doing all the machinework asked if i wanted him to make the thermostathousing aswell,i told him we will wait with that detail since im not sure how to route the top radiatorhose just yet, this thing is very flat for what it is and the blowers bottom sits just above the valvecover rails.

the whole package of parts is a mess to work around with the atachingbolts only reachable from the bottom and the outlet in the bottom front of the blower and it also uses a vacumoperated recirculation valve recirculating exesive boost into the back of the blower into what could be considered a plenum under the carb when the throtlesblades are closed.
the chanel in the back of the intakemanifolds plenum is where im thinking of putting a blow of valve, there just is no space anywhere else for this feature, i have asked and thought some about this and to be honest im not even sure there is a good point in using any kind of blow of since most backfires are at light throtle anyway and at light throtle the recirkulationvalve is open anyway aloving the backfire to exit thru the carb just like on a N/A engine,and at fullthrotle these superchargers have been known to have a bad habit blowing thru the valve venting thru the carb anyway, but this is not set in stone yet.

good pics! alot of people told me when i started this stupid project to just use a normal singleplane intakemanifold and an adaptoplate,well that just didnt work since the blowerhousings back want to occupy the same space as the distributor since the outlet is so far forward and it would have been alot to tall for my taste anyway,trying to keep all of this under a fairly low hoodscoop as to keep it semisthealty but not sure how that is going to work out anyway lol

will be streetdriven alot and i think this thing may make enough steam to blow my poor stockblock into pieces if im not carefull in keeping boost fairly low :(

are you talking a 6.71 blower or ??? seems like a lot of trouble building an intake that is going to have problems getting to the bolts,,,a back fires dont always happen at light throttle,,the blow off valve can help from gernading a motor if you build to much pressure,,and if for soem reason your motor leans out under load it wil back fire like mad and blow that valve open,,,saving your blower and carbs from lift off,,ask me i know,,,,,,,pics when you get it sounds intresting

good eye ,,,,yes i had those valave covers made at offenhauser,,,they still have the mold,,and had not made any mopar small block covers in many years,,, they have a nicer and differnt look then a lot of other vintage finned valve covers,,

they styled them back in the day,,thats why they except the orignal style oil fil cap and orignal style pcv cap and valve,,, which are available under the mopar hemi restoration part number,,, but same cap as used on all mopar motors in the 1960s,, i got lucky and found it new at a swap meet,,,way cheaper then the new hemi resto pricing from mopar,,

nope its a lysholm 3.3liter screw supersharger so i will just have one carb ontop if it
the thing with the bolts are that it ataches from the bottom, so i will have to bolt the supercharger to the manifold first and then bolt the manifold to the engine,and the supercharger is just wide enough to make it alitle tighter than comfortable around the intakemanifold bolts,since i do whatever i can to avoid a big adaptor plate at the top, when i get the supercharger and the manifold back i will take some better pics and it will all be clear as mud :)
ok will create a popoff then,one that will protect my overflow valve at the same time :)
ok dont have alot of experience with blown aplications so im learning as i go so to speak just noticed on my old NA 340 that i basicly never had any backfires at fullthrotle,only at part/light throtle:/
