I you never knock the tree over, you'll never know how far you can push it.

m71 demon has 493 ,701 lift,1050 dom.eddy.heads,727 with 3500 stall no trans brake,dana60 with 3:55 ladderbars&coilovers,,it,s been in the mid 10,s,the motor is a 12:1,car has full interier ,with 6 point roll cage.
Given the following car specifications: an m71 demon with 493, 701 lift, 1050 dom. eddy heads, 727 with 3500 stall no trans brake, dana 60 with 3:55 ladderbars & coilovers, capable of mid 10-second runs, with a 12:1 motor compression ratio, full interior, and a 6-point roll cage, what modifications or tuning would you suggest to further improve its performance on the track?

Hi Samanthasen, where are you from in the netherlands?

I´d say a demon with a healthy 493 should run low tens / high nines for sure. I´d suggest another converter (higher stall speed) and more rear gear. The cylinder heads are ported? If not, then there is a lot of potential....TF270´s would probably be a good fit. What kind of intake?

Michael

More gear and convertor. Also port the heads if they haven’t been already, as they are small heads for that big of motor

What is the duration at .050 for the in & ex ?

Reducing weight is the least expensive thing to do. Then I would go to a 4.10 or 4.33 gear and an 8" converter, 5500rpm. Assuming it is race only.

My 3100 pound Duster ran 10.50's with a 340, 12.2:1 compression, .672 lift flat tappet cam, W5 heads flowing 300 cfm's at .600 lift and 305 at .650. Still using the 2.02 intake valve. The 4600 T/A converter, 29.5/11.5 tires, 904 with a low gear set and 5.13's. The carb is a self modified 850 Speed Demon flowing 930 cfm's with a 2" open spacer on an M1 manifold. 1 7/8 headers, no mufflers or juice.

I'll tell you straight up that I tried a lot of converters, rear gears, cams and even intakes and carbs to get it where it was. I run the same basic combo in the Scamp except it's a MP 360 short block, not much better than stock, but with the same heads, cam, intake and driveline. It weighs 2600 pounds, uses 4.88 gears and 14/32's with a four link. So far in crappy air it's gone 6.60 in the 1/8th at 103 and 10.45 in the 1/4 at 127. It's nearly 10 years old now and pretty tired so instead of freshening it I'm just going to build a stroker short block and have the heads touched up and 2.08 intakes installed. The only other changes are the 2" primary tube headers and 4" collectors. Should put it in the 9's
What is your .050 duration?
