Post your 12 second small block combos

-
15 YEARS AGO this was race only got lucky on combo no one could figure out why it ran so fast 63 dart sedan 70 stock 340 short block with 528 solid lifter cam good set of cast heads . portosonic intake ,800 race carb ,tci 5500 convertor ,hooker 15/8 fender well headers 410 83/4 spool 30x9 slicks 11.50 s with 1.55 60 ft 114mpr ran on pump gas building a 63 dart hard top now trying to duplicate everything that was in that car but know now it wont run as fast as that one did LOL

Probably 15 years ago my 69 Dart 340 - 4speed hays clutch 528 solid mopar cam straight up ( by the marks maybe ) ,reground cast crank, recon stock rods, 11.5 to 1 dome pistons ( Mopar Performance ), cylinder cranking pressures of 175, rebuilt 2.02 / 1.60 heads port matched plus a little grinding but no bowl work, weiand x-celerator intake , 850 dp Holley, 1 5/8 Blackjack headers alumakoted, Mallory unilite, 4.88 gear , 9 x 28 MT slicks , superstock springs, pinion snubber, air shocks, adjustable Koni fronts , 2900 plus 205 driver. 13.03 104.9 - - 8.35 or so 1/8 mile. I went in and home ported the heads and the intake a few years back. Ran a 8.03 eighth mile with what I finally figured out was a bad clutch. I do have a new clutch and flywheel now. Hasn't hit the track in nearly 3 years. The closest track shut down. Anyway it should go 7s and 12 now. Maybe I'll find out some time ! I could toss a 100 shot of NOS on there, although I would be in trouble for the no roll bar or something.

My third version "Teener" in my 65 Barracuda:

Same short block as first version teener, 360 heads radically angle milled to achieve 45 cc chamber, 2.02, 1.6 valves, Comp XTQ281s-6 solid lifter cam, Eddy Torquer II intake, 750 Holley DP carb, Thorley "D" Dart headers, 904 tranny with reverse manual valve body, converter that was supposed to stall at 4800 rpm behind a 360, 8 3/4 with 5.13 gears, M/T 275/60x15 drag radials.

12.54 at 107.61, 1.88 sec 60ft

Car I worked over to run this year. 67 valiant. While trying to get the big block back together for my 71 Dart. 70's 360LA motor. KB 107 pistons. J heads hogged all the way out with 2.02/1.6 chebby long stem/stock diameter valves for .554 lift Hughes hydraulic flat tappet cam (no longer available). 273 adjustable rockers. 1 5/8 chassis headers through the mufflers and back to before rear axle. MSD ignition. MSD 6a box. 700 Holley DP with manual secondaries and no choke. Performer RPM air gap. Fuel cell with 1/2 fuel lines. Holley blue fuel pump with regulator set to just under 6 psi. Electric water pump pulley and no alternator. Battery relocated to trunk (78 pound AGM battery). 727 with forward pattern manual valve body. 3500 stock diameter converter. Interior stripped. Full original sheet metal car. Roll cage with driver's door swing out arm (not NHRA certified). Welded subframe connectors. 2 race seats. 8 3/4 with 391 spool. Lots of leaf spring clamps with old school slapper bars. Pinion angel set with shims (car sits very low front and rear). 26X8.5 MT drag radials. I've got $5500 into the project car included. Best of 12.694 @ 106.59. Shifting with shift light set at 5300. Coming across the stripe at just under 6K. 1.76 60 foot. Switched to a HP 750 DP out of the box (having float issues with 700 DP and runs were inconsistent) and have run about 40 passes between 12.79 and 12.85. Have not turned a screw or jets or anything to new carb this season. Trying to do everything the same for consistency. Last weekend out I ran 13 passes at 12.84 to 12.85. Out in the first round both nights getting treed. .053 reactions time not good enough even running my time with a .003. (12.853 on a 12.85 dial in). Next night out in first round again. Got treed. .080 reaction time. Ran the number with an 8 (12.858 on a 12.85 dial in). Damn the competition is getting stiff LOL. Used to be that was good enough in the first round. Not these days.

Very good! Must have been nice!
Once you change some gears, possible converter change with decent gripping tires and race without so much fuel, you'll be knocking on 11's I think!

Lunati .533/.552 hyd. cam
Edelbrock heads w/slight port/polish

Quick fuel 850...this combo runs high 11's with a best of 11.86 in a "street" car..NO sprayed needed:-D:-D

Mine is about like this (3.58 stroke); no headwork, no intake work,750DP.
She goes 93 in the 1/8th at 3457#. It hasn't gone the Qtr. Wallace calculator puts me at [email protected] with my street suspension with a theoretical 11 in her somewhere.
She's very docile, never overheats, and does pretty good on gas with an overdrive. She was my DD for many years.

Might sound crazy, but I am going to try for 11's WITHOUT changing the gears. I just want to see iff I can do it.
This car lives on the highway, the 3.23's are staying.

Wondering if I'll hit the 12's this year? Any thoughts / suggestions on my build?

Holy chit! I did t realize all of this was in the

POST YOUR 12 second combo” thread.

Your supposed to post the combo that made it into the 12’s, not ask advice here. That’s this threads design and purpose!

Dang!

Sorry Rumblefish360. I just got caught up reading all the combos and I started wondering (and typing) if I'll make it into the 12's club level.

Would you be so kind to point out the proper thread for this inquiry?

Thank you. I'll repost. I'm still in the assembly stage and being in the North East my local track doesn't open until May. I was just more curious of the opinion from those with simular builds with proven results. Regardless ... I'll post where appropriate and see what surfaces.

That's an easy 11.50 combo if it hooks, carb does not lean out and the hyd. lifters give you the RPM needed.

I agree I think it'll run 11.70 to 11.80 withwith the 3.55 gears and 11.5 to 11.60 with the 4.10 or 4.30 gears.

66 dart, 4 door. 3450# with a full tank and me (180lbs) in it. MRL 408 full roller, 11:1 static compression, eddie ported heads and matching air-gap intake, proform 750 DP, full MSD ignition. Cope racing 904-4, reverse pattern full manual. 8.75 with 3.55's, auburn limited slip (stock for now) subframe connectors - home brewed, magnum force racing j-bars and shock tower braces, 13 gal fuel cell, 3/8 fuel line with an aeromotive ss pump + regulator, dead-head unit. Would you have cam specs to that?

Well I hope to post in the 11 second one within the next month but for now I'm here.

First time racing a RWD vehicle on the track (my other experience was AWD turbo Stealth's)
Run 1: Tires at 20 psi. Launched at 3000 rpm and blew the tires off for a 2.3 60 foot time and a 13.1 @ 106 mph
Run 2: Tires at 18 psi. Launched at 2500 rpm and blew tires off for a 2.31 60 foot time and a 13.15 @ 109 mph
Run 3: Tires at 18 psi. Launched at 2000 rpm and blew the tires off for another 2.25 60' time and a 13.1 @ 110 mph
Run 4: I'm sick of blowing the tires off so I drop the tire pressure to 16. Get a full tank of gas, and add 300 pounds of stuff into the trunk. I do twice as long of a burnout. Then let the clutch out at idle and punch it. Car dead hooks, kills the motor and a I get a ~5 second 60'...
Run 5: Another long burnout like Run 4. I Launch at 3k rpm. It hooks and bogs to 2800 ish rpm. Got a 1.9 60' at 12.88 @ 106 mph
Unfortunately that was the last run I got as I was eliminated.

The combo:
408 stroker
Forged Scat bottom end
Stock OOTB Edelbrock heads
10.1:1 comp
Howards hydraulic flat tappet 244/248 @.050 w/.565/578 lift. 108 LSA
Comp pro roller rockers 1.5 ratio
Hedman 1 5/8 headers into 3 inch exhaust with hooker aero chamber mufflers dumping at axle
Air Gap Intake
750 Quick Fuel SS
MSD 6AL2
4 Speed A833 with Centerforce clutch. Stock A body shifter
Quicktime bellhousing
Hydraulic American Powertrain clutch kit
8 3/4 w/3.55 gears and Auburn LSD
Mini tubbed
Springs moved in 3.5 inches
28x12.5-15 MT Bias Ply Sportsman Pro tires (terrible btw) Ran @ 20 then 18, then 16 psi
Steel 15x10 rear rims and steel 15x4 fronts
Subframe connectors
Full factory interior
All steel body plus Superstock hood scoop
Full tank of gas
+300 pounds of weight in the trunk in an attempt to get some traction

I didn't get to weight it but I'd guess with all the stuff plus the fuel, ballast weight in the back, and me (225 pounds) it's pretty darn heavy.

I know I was sleeping at the light

stick shift is a thing of the pass my dart had a lot less done to it then your car and it was not a stroker ,went 11.50 you spent alot of money in the wrong places

Pretty sure I spent money exactly where I wanted to for my street car. It'll be on the track maybe 3 times this summer just for fun and 99.9% on the street where I'll be having fun slamming through the gears. Secondly I'm still learning how to launch it and what rpm to shift at so it'll go faster if I do go a few more times. The trap speed alone shows that it's got the power to run faster.

Btw what car do you currently own or are you just a bench racer now who likes to **** on other people's first time drag racing posts?
