Project Crusty Biscuit (65 Plymouth Valiant)

I’ve been chipping away at getting some parts painted over the past few weeks. Kinda excited to get it done so I hadn’t taken the time to document my progress. I’m still waiting on a new hood to get here so that’s really the only thing holding me back from the final paint job!

Wow! I’m so glad I stumbled across this thread yesterday!! It is amazing and inspiring what you have accomplished with this car! I’m slamming my Duster down as low as the factory inner fenders will allow and I’m highly considering doing a front mini tub similar how you did. Looking forward to more updates!

Got quite a bit of work done this weekend; some misc mechanical stuff, heat-sleaved some wires/lines, adjusted the door gaps a little bit, fitted the fenders to get ready to make adjustments, and installed my headlight relay kit from @crackedback , and finally put the car on the ground to look at it while I drink a beer.

Finally got my exhaust done, took me three months to make (lazy). First time tig welding but as usual I decide to take on a very ambitious first project after trying something new. Stainless 3” oval tubing with a mix of pie cut and mandrel bends, black widow neighborhater mufflers. The welds are far from beautiful and are starved of argon in places but overall I’m happy and feel it sounds great!

great build page Chris, just been right through from the first post! I'm building an Aussie 67 Dodge ute, thought I had some repairs to do! Compared to this it was rust free! I'm about to do the same as you've done in post #165 and have the same bonnet/hood issue. Mines a custom fibreglass unit I made from scratch. When I cut the vent out I'll do a cut across the panel and lift the centre and make a fill in panel. If no one else has said, post #142 with your gas struts for the hood, turn them the other way up. They will last longer as the seals require being on the downside to lubricate and also stop dirt entering the strut.

What an awesome car. So much time and effort and custom fabrication. Looks great!

Great build sir. I had to go back and look at the beginning. What a amazing change. I agree with the other comments. Most people would have walked right by this car and never think twice. Keep up with work.

Great build and even better work?? I love it. Shows what can be DONE!!!!!
An old Mopar is like the artist with a fresh canvas just waiting for the brush!

Hey Chris.
I did the exact same thing on my Swinger. It was really one of the easiest of the thousand projects that involves restoring an on Dodge :) My doner was from an 05 Crown Vic 28-spline and like yours is a 1-legger. I feel it's time to do a small upgrade and drop a Limited Slip in. I did some research and I'm under the impression that all 90-something and up Ford 8.8 differentials interchange. Is that true?
