Yes this is pretty much what we do. We like to find people that know the backcountry around their local areas and hook up with them and have great rides. Of course I like cranking my snowmobile up to speed on the trails once in awhile but I rather slowly pick my way through the trees in the Deep powder. Actually ours are geared for climbing not so much for flat-out Speed especially with how long our tracks are. My wife's is a little bit faster because hers is only a 153 track. It scares me. Well at any rate it caught me off-guard the last time I rode it.As far as safety goes I tell people who don't sled and think it's dangerous to look at the fatality reported and there are always three factors, not on a OFSC trail (riding the road), alcohol and night time. Any two of these and your in trouble all three and there is a high chance of serious injury or death.
When I got back into it 20 yrs ago with my wife and young children some guys kidded me about being a wuss so I went for a weekend with them. All we did was ride fast all day long and saw nothing did nothing just bragging about how far or how fast you went that day, HATED IT.
I realised there are so many places you can't get to unless your on a snowmobile. Now we tour from town to town, meet people and ride with them to find hidden local spots not found on maps, take pictures and have a fuull enjoyable day with real things to talk about.
I do like the speed and every once in awhile taking my RX1 120mph across the lake is a rush and quiets my addiction for fast.
They're very clean burning 2-stroke fuel injected mostly now, but four strokes are coming on strong as they're heavier but the turbos are really making them extremely fast and fun to ride. Looking forward to try and one of the four stroke turbos. But for now the two-stroke has so much power write-off and holds it to seemingly no end. There's plenty of inclusive snowmobile packages that even look like a lot of fun for someone who has a snowmobile also.Never been on or around a snowmobile. Wouldn't get to use one much here in Oklahoma! MAYBE once a year if I'm lucky.
Are all of the newer ones 4 stroke? Is 4 stroke preferred over 2 stroke? I LOVE 2 stroke 4 wheelers and currently have a Yamaha Banshee with CPI pipes, the sound and sudden power delivery is so addicting. I would like to make a trip somewhere and go ride a snowmobile for a few days.

I think Yamaha is still making a fan-cooled twin two stroke according to the 2019 buyer's guide. Yamaha has teamed up with Arctic Cat and they have there 4-stroke Genesis motor that they're trading back and forth and putting a turbo on and it does very well in the Deep powder it's just so powerful.Bombardier has 2 strokes and 4 strokes models.
Yamaha has 4 strokes only
Polaris if I not mistaken are 2 strokes only.
2 strokes are best for off track (deep snow) machines where raw power and light weight are preferred.
4 strokes are best suited for Grand Touring machines.
I was just wondering if anybody else this time of year just is very depressed about not being able to ride your snowmobile? For a couple months at least and haven't rode it for a few months at least.
braaAAP!
Piss off....
Hate em. Was ok until i ended up having to go out in -40 to haul fire pits and picnic tables out to remote campsites in the park.
Then i grew to despise snowmobiling. Too many long cold days. Worst was running across open water. Only way through a narrow channel. Boss says try it with an empty sleigh first, if it works than take one table across at a time.
Water was 3’ deep and hole was 50 feet long if that.
Just sold my YZ250 last month. No one to go riding with.
My one experience in sleds lasted about six hours. Spent more time stuck than sledding, but somehow still managed to wreck two sleds, twist my knee, concuss myself, and tear my rotator cuff.... About ready to try again.
Is literally impossible for you to side track my snowmobile threads! My brother is always looking for someone to ride with. Should have told me. He would have lowered his standards to ride with you. He's a nice guy like that.
Is that YR on one of those sleds, before he melted.
He melted (down)Absolutely UMMMMMMMMpossible. I don't snowmobile. So it can't be me.

I prefer- the beatings will continue until morale improves...These threads spare side tracked to start with.
Luckily for you, I'm not the king of this country. First, I'd outlaw cell phones. Then snowmobiles. Complainers are promptly shot.
Have you seen arctic cats new Alpha One?Absolutely UMMMMMMMMpossible. I don't snowmobile. So it can't be me.

Either way, shootings or beatings...no cell phones or snowmobiles.
I also forgot to mention all golf courses would be converted to MotoCross tracks and shooting ranges. Piss on golf.
your wife's not home and you haven't been taking your medsRode one around the parking lot of a local dealer last month. Meh.
