SS Springs on 75 Duster

-
I am leaving Wednesday afternoon for the Oregon coast....high 60s.....4th year in a row to get out of the heat...

well..i had to look at something before I left town...the radiator....measured it...and then measured the one in my Demon...same size....Demon has 16 inch fan....which i could not get to fit.....well..****...i tried the 16 inch fan again....and it fit....well....it is on the car....and fired it up...really help....

Now i can go on vacation and sleep at night

Enjoying a next week off along the Oregon coast....why do i work on cars in that hot **** hole of vegas...lol

Home again.....replaced fuel regulator....bingo 6.5 lbs of fuel pressure....going to back the car out tomorrow...no seat yet....need to bolt down the engine too...lol....71 Duster need that Dana 60 by 1st week in Sept as we go back racing.....

thinking about what is needed to complete car.....really want to get this out to the tnt at the end of sept....last chance I think to run the car this year.

interior....mount seat...tach mounted and wired....shift light wired.....rear bulkhead.....clean interior....

got a couple options on the seat.....the original bench seat was junk...I have a black bench seat in storage...and I have a procar bucket with a bracket for the floor mount....just need to fit it and drill holes...

Trunk......battery needs mounts either drill or welded.....and trunk floor needs to be replaced....

Front end alignment....

Started it up and backed it out of the garage and park it inside trailer....shut door...and locked it....

It appears that the newer duster that had catalytic converter ,,,,have a different floor pan then the early dusters.....so might be a lot of fun getting a seat mounted...

I took the procar seat with brackets on it that we ran in the 71 duster...and was hoping to it would just drop it...BUT...nope...

all 3 of the other race cars use a Turbo action Command Center 70251 for use with a B&M Pro Stick. The idea is that if someone needs to to drive another car the switches and shifter are the same...I have been looking for a TA CC for this car for months and months and they have not been in stock and TA has no shipping date for them...So I had wired the car differently ....and tonight...just for some reason doing a search on Ebay...I find one....bingo...now we will all be the same again...

Two months later.....got the car back in the garage for winter work .......working on getting seat mounted...once seat is done everything else is going to be easy....and need to finish off work in trunk area...battery mount and trunk floor.....

Got the seat bracket all made up....some square tubing....welder...drill ...bingo...now I need to locate the seat on the bracket.....I am going to take some measurements off the 71 Duster....to see where the seat is in relation to everything else....I does have adjustable rails but gotta get close enough on the 1st try.

ok...seat is ready to go....painted the bracket....black...and my fingers too....took off stock steering wheel and turn signal hardware....vacuumed floor...and painted it ...guess ...black...and my fingers too..had to remove shifter from floor to lay carpet....going to let it lay out for a few days....then seat and shifter get bolted back to the floor...and I need to rewire switches to TA Command Center...wire in tack and shift light.....

Ok....now for the weard crap...this 75 duster had a /6 in it...I removed the engine and K member and installed 71 K member...It appears the engine is sitting a couple of inches higher with this K member in the engine compartment as I Have a holley 750 on the eddy air gap with an one inch spacer....I put an air cleaner 14 x 3 air cleaner on it will a dropped base ...and the hood hit the air cleaner....same set up as on my 73 340 duster...expect the 73 duster uses a eddy performer rpm......

any one ??

Thought a 71 used the flat plate type and a 73 used the round pass thru bolt type mount (spool type).

Thought a 71 used the flat plate type and a 73 used the round pass thru bolt type mount (spool type).

correct....i am using the 71 k member..and i have the correct engine mounts and biscuits .

.
Your compairing it to a 73 that uses a different type mount Is my point.

but the engine should not be sticking up a couple of inches higher....

worked on getting the carpet laid......and got the shifter cable thru the carpet and shifter itself bolted down......then the seat.....looks like two of the studs On the seat frame I made are too short...will fix that with a grinder...

could not find my cheap soldering iron..had to hit Harbor Freight for another one...I use it to burn thru the carpet...

ok....carpet is laid...seat is bolt down....shifter is bolted down on top of carpet....rewiring car...taking switches for fuel pump...water pump...fan and lights off the dash and putting them on Turbo Action Command Center like the other cars. Got 4 of the switches done....only need ignition switch and starter button tomorrow...and then will have to test them all.....

Then on to the trunk....button it up....got to many other things to do this winter...

put grill back in the car...makes it look closer to being done.

tested the 4 switches everything worked great.....noticed I had a bunch of loose wires on the power post....
got the ignition switch done....switch on...switch off.....started on the starter button...ran wire to the starter relay switch then I had to leave....

got everything wired up....fired up and ran......but there is something i did that I did not want to do...lol....so need to rewire the ignition switch...gotta move a couple of wires around....
I want the ignition switch to control the power to the tach...and shift light plus a couple of small things...and it does not....oh well...sooner or later I will get it done...

Got it all straighten out...LOL....and then was tying up the wires...and I see one wire hanging out....I used only one butt connector....and guess which one popped out....will fix in morning.....
I had they very expensive tach sitting on the shelf for 6 yrs now...got shift light...play back...and other stuff....was trying to get add a shift light to a regular tach....so I hook this thing up....bingo...got it mounted and can move shift light on to the dash pad if needed...

tried to sell a 300 dollar tach for 100 bucks at MATS...and no one wanted it...

Finished off the wiring....except for the lights for the gauges....and need a tail light wired up......
Replaced the trunk floor and moved wires around to make things cleaner...just need to some 3/8 all tread for battery hold downs....
