Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good morning! I’m off today and plan to putz in the shop, put away Christmas stuff and hang up some more MoPar memorabilia on the walls
We did that yesterday. I have a lot of stuff to hang to in the new garage....hopefully this spring.

They forgot though that we fight on our stomach.
How did some Lt Fuzz forget that? And what General tought that was a good idea?

For wildfire we carried MRE's but whenever they (USFS) could get a kitchen setup they did.
I was super impressed, wasn't expecting it once we got sent out.

Resupply was by chopper.

Being the good officer I always took whatever MRE was left and it was usually the one no one wanted. I always had a supply of peanut butter and crackers.

I am out hopefully I got paid with this Gov shutdown have to check.
I'm curious to know as well. This thing needs to continue thru the end of January though lol
We ate a lot of C-Rations in the day from the 50's. MRE's were awful no matter how much hot sauce you added.
The worse thing the military did was getting rid of the field kitchen and cooks.
Ya I know they wanted to be lighter and quicker.

Bad food for long periods has an affect on you!!
Dad still has a bunch of C and K rations. and I mean a bunch. The original MREs from the 80s thru the 90s SUCKED. The latest ones are actually pretty darn good compared to those. And fyi, the Army has brought back cooks and field kitchens, about 6-7 years ago now. Started at battalion levels and now have gotten down to the unit level.

We used to get pretty creative with MRE's. Garlic salt was the cure! Always had it with me.
That or steak sauce.

Probably the same general that decided the Army's Desert Camo's werent effective enough in Iraq, so he forced a switch to lime green digital ****(made by his own company mind you) that couldnt blend in with **** except for a pile of crushed concrete, and even then, it didn't work well.

That's good news. I retired out of there in 2010 and don't keep up with the changes except for my retirement check of course....haha!!

Yep and they've brought back the Army cooking competitions too.

It was great!! We went early and got the last table. It was a steady crowd guess others had the same idea. Most likely a new Christmas tradition.

That's great! We have one here in town, not very good though.

We have many good places to get Chinese here...

Got the rear cleaned up yesterday. Looking for axel seals and the foam gaskets for the backing plate one side is missing it. Cannot find the foam ones anywhere prob have to make them.

Mancini Racing has the foam seals...

I can't fine the 7 1/4" ones listed on line, but call them and see...

Here's the link for the 8 1/4" and 8 3/4" axle...

Our boy is still wearing the green, he always has some tasty MREs with him at family events! He gets his first shot at E8 this month. Likely get passed but it is exciting anyway. He is out of harms way now doing his recruiting bit after being Airborne. I simply cannot believe how good the modern MRE as compared to what we ate! The military is an amazing fraternity. Majority of my staff are most all combat vets as well. We can fight brawl or whatever and never lose sight of the mission. Each day is a new day, never a grudge held.

Hey all, Talking a bout something called a "Budget"? My Budget with 5 new mouth's to feed and cloth, went all to hell. I am going to have to get a job......Crap...

or move from CA to a more friendly family state.

or.... turn that landscape into a garden and can again. I started doing that a couple years back, have literally saved hundreds a year on groceries. And if you want beef, buy it in say Indiana or Kansas on the way back from Carlisle, odds are, its cheaper

And if you want GREAT beef you'd buy it in Kansas!!

I can get rib eyes that when done you can cut with a butter knife.
Midwest beef is the best. Friends from the right and left coast come through and just say "WOW"

hints why I said it lol. That said, Indiana is number 2 in Angus farms in the country, or was last I looked. Beef here is less than 2.50 a pound for ground beef, when I was in Florida 4 months ago, I paid 6.99 a pound for the same exact stuff.
