I believe that was who he said he went to.
Mike's in California, so when you said down south I thought it might be some pro-touring poser company.

2015 SCCA Autocross Nationals Recap | Mike Maier Inc | MMI
Mikes won C-Prepared at SCCA nationals outright, and also co-driving Frank Stagnaro's car (above). Frank's won many CP championships himself with Mike's help on the car.
They are also excellent drivers.

Dave Mapes (with the ZebraDart) has used Maier's advice and some parts on his CP Mustang.

So yea. Maeir has a lot of development time and insight into making stuff work. Not cheap for sure, but at least its the real deal.

I hit the thread on the mustang build. In my mind that is a perfect example of many car show enthusiasts. Last year at Mopars in the Park I was trying to solve some tough questions on my build and was scrounging for similiar type issues and solutions. I found a couple of examples and when I spoke to both individuals they just shrugged when asked and stated "I don't really know I just wrote a check" In my humble opinion that is why I love this sight and forum. The folks on here try and do as absolute much on their car as they can by themselves. We all utilize outside sources for this or that but by and large sort it out ourselves. By same token if my checkbook was fat I would likely do the same thing and would not have caught myself on fire yesterday under the dash! This Forum rocks and it motivates me every single day. Nothing says comradare like reading about someone else getting pissed off and frustrated at their car.
Rant complete!

Catching up reminded me of a news story that I heard on the radio this week...

There was a crime committed in Terra Houte, IN and the perp was driving a green Valiant... I forgot what the crime was.... And they didn't say what year or range of years the green valiant was...

So anybody see a green Valiant near Tera Houte, IN, get a license number and call the police...

Cant be many Valiants, especially green in IN in January out on the road. But I guess we know of 1 that was at least out...

I called the police station down there and recommended that they post some of the details on this site... Any members here that are local to them will be able do spot a green Valiant from 50 paces, or may even know the guy... You get to know the locals near you with an abody when you see it around town...

Not sure how serious the desk clerk was and if he will follow through, but I tried to help them...

My mistake was assuming he was actually autocrossing the car. I really don't understand why folks put all that money into modifying a car and then not trying it out. That's just me. Obviously I'm in the minority, by a long shot! That's OK. It makes people happy and helpd the economy.

15 years ago there was no 'protouring', so about the only guys doing stuff like this were guys competing or doing track days or such. As usual, I'm livin in the past.

I got pulled over in NJ one night. This would have to be around 1990 to 95. Reason: They were looking for a guy in Barracuda! I had both my current drivers license and my expired photo license, which the officer appreciated. I wasn't the guy, and it wasn't my car they were looking for. :)

We have Lake Berryessa near by that has pretty cool winding hilly roads in and out. That’s where a lot of the road cars and bikes go to push and test. Unfortunately during the summer lots of people and bicycles on those same roads. Not to mention lots of partying! Bad combo IMO. Then there are always rock slides and wildlife to be very aware of. Didn’t seem to bother us back in the day.

Nice. Ariens? Its got be over 6 hp. Did I say nice!
Yup Ariens, bout three years old 15hp, 30in cut gettin ready to go get it soon......I have had a plow setup for my JD Lawn Tractor for years, but Itsa PIA, cause the deck needs to be off, and usually the Plow Blade is buried in the shed.....

Yea. I had a couple hard lessons. When I was working on the Barracuda, maybe it was even before I got the current one, I knew I needed safe place to play with it. Didn't want mine to be another one of the many wrapped around a telephone pole. And I absolutely don't want to risk anyone else's well being. That's just not right in my book.

Autocross is great because you can go 10/10ths - in fact you have to try to. That means finding the limits by occassionally exceeding them. Its the only safe venue to do that for sports driving.

I think it would be Kool if I could build my 65 Belvedere for Autocross/street use...

What a contrast!

Might be even more fun as a track day car. You're not that far from SummitPoint.
Check out this post
YouTube of my brother's stock '68 Road Runner at track day. | Corners Are Best - Handling Tech | Moparts Forums
Stock - bone stock except for the radial 'red streak' tires, drums all around. The guy has a blast. Video is hand held so you may not want to watch it if you have a queazy stomache. LOL

Just a couple inches of snow here. Everything was snow covered when I came home last night. Haven't been out, but cars are zippin by... Rumor is we will get a bunch next weekend.
