Expanding insulating foam in a spray can. Its adhesive. Guaranteed trunk will seal. But never open again...

Hi and thank you.

I found this too: trunk seal install

The car came up here without any seal at all. And the paint has not been clear coated either. I think I bought the trunk lid seal and door seals from Rock Auto. Hope it works. As long as I am not driving the car in rain, or little or no wind when raining I guess I am safe.

Water in mopar trunks came from the factory. Factory installed water never leaves. It hides in there and redistributes itself at will. Does the same up front - shows up on the floor pans. :BangHead: lol

Lower corners of the windows is the big infiltration point. Tail lights is another. Side markers will just go down in the quarters. I also had it coming in the 2 screw holes for my canopy vinyl top trim...

put a pic up.. and what's your car you are putting it in?

Yes, here comes the picture. It is the car in my Avatar, '65 Dart, full doored sedan.

The fisrt picture is of an obvious problem I have in the lower area of the trunk lid opening. I should have welded it.

The second picture shows the seal I have got, too wide for the edge. Left side of the trunk.

Third pic, moved the seal to the other side of the edge.

Fourth picture, I can not imagine this will be right either.

Fifth picture, and certainly don't fit down in the grove either.

The silly thing is when the original seal is gone, and all the evidence of where and how it was mounted is gone too.

I would just get some kind of sealer under that metal and bend it down to close it.
I don't know what seal is correct for yours.

I think the seal is up side down...but then maybe not.....lot of help huh?:BangHead:

It's Fiat Friday!
Good morning/afternoon. :D
Had an early appointment with Marlena the Tormentor and PT.
There's a cruise in town tonight, for cancer survivors :D.
Tomorrow is the Cruisin' For Lfe car show, a fundraiser for cancer research and treatments.
Should be a fun couple of hours. :D

Also the type of seal it is.

That’s definitely wrong placement lol. Should work the way you had it in the other pics. I think a lot of Metro seals are crappy copies of original. Not sure if that is intended to give better seal, or cheaper to make, or?... I have a there door seals. Good fit, but not quite the same. Softer rubber, so I think they oversize some dimensions to allow for the softer compound compressing. The side bumpers for my hood would not let it close. Had to find some good originals.

The worst part however is on the bottom of the trunk opening. The metal lip is not like on the upper part.

I have to write down the types of glues you guys have mentioned and see if I can find any of it here, or if Brown or Newsom have gotten rid of everything that smells.

So i fought the new spring into place. It lowered car by 1/2” with just one side done.
So in order to get out of this disaster, im removing lowering blocks. Already an improvement.
Stock height in rear looks better imho...
