Stop in for a cup of coffee

Good idea. Cell sites are battery backed up as well, FYI. BUT they go dead very quickly. Might not have cell phone service with prolonged power outages..

In Norway they have in their great wisdom of course replaced all switchboards with digital ones, without any software. The software is placed in a central, so when you power up the switchboard it goes to an IP address, and downloads the software. If this was in the US, it would be like the phone line between Nevada and California broke, all citizens in California would be without telephone service since the software was on a server in Washington DC. Isn't that a wonderful way of doing it ?
Being educated in modern digital automation I have come to hate it. Not that it could not work, but someone just had to start cutting corners, everywhere. And that is when I started hating modern technology. Get me the landline back, and a crank on the phone, or at least the rotary phone with pulse technology.

We can't get AT&T land line, just wireless. In fact - that's what I'm using for the OOma VoIP, through a 4G wireless connection.
But for the rotary phones to call out, I had to get Dialgizmo pulse to tone converter.

Part of the problem here goes back to the breakup of Ma Bell.
But the current situation is that Verizon already had partially completed FIOS in Phila when they decided their was no future in it. The City held them to finishing what they started (sortof). Anyway, they need to try to get as much money out of it as possible so they are cajoling, intimidating and saying whatever is neccessary to get people off the copper lines. The other thing this does is eliminate employees with overhead - especially experienced people and union positions. The new folks can be hired as contractors - I'm sure many are.

Verizon nears “the end” of FiOS builds

As far as reliability during a natural disaster or other time of emergency, that doesn't concern the quarterly stock holder report...

As long as someone gets rich and someone gets re-elected, who cares if it works or if the average person can afford it? :BangHead:

IMO, very astute observation.

Well i don’t know...
Hard to decide.
Needs more stickout in the back.
So will check width of the 1/2 ton in the lineup.

He said, he was going to try his Air Hammer, on the top of the piston, while it is still in the engine. He said he will make a wooden disc to fit the bore, so he does not damage the piston surface. I like that idea, I should have done that on my 383 GTS engine, that was froze up....

How thick of a wood disc do you need to insulate the piston enough so it won't break when hitting it....

Oh, its locked up good. I tried dragging it around, from the front in forward and reverse gear. Not even a twitch.
Thinking i need to put a load on the back and give it a few more pulls un the gravel.

I was thinking 3/4 in OSB plywood.....Dunno........

How about using a circle saw cutter that you use to cut a door knob hole on a 2x4 and then using the plug that it makes???? Then you would have 1 1/2" of good wood.... (that's what she said... :D)

Depending on weather, may try again tomorrow.
