A perfect plan at that Mitch, same here, get her back on the road and make sure she is sound and ready befor she gets paint, I am not touching the inside and going back all original colors (My younger son don't agree) but she will look as she did when she was cruising around with the /6 in her.

Is there a build thread for your car?. Like to see it.

I'm gettin antsy now. I pretty much have everything I need to get it under its own power. Plan is after I paint the engine bay with the correct color GG1 in single stage urethane, Will install the drivetrain, suspension and brakes, fuel system. I already bought good Ma Mopar sheet metal and had it all straightend , blocked and primed/ pained flat black by a body guy. The original panels were pretty bad. Both fenders, both doors , trunk lid, and GTS hood are replacements, and ready to go. The quarters and drop offs need replaced also, but I'm going to get the car going and drive it as is for a while to work out bugs before the paint job. That my plan, and I'm stickin to it !! LOL

Good plan Mitch. I painted my engine compartment black when I did my 273 because I don't know what color the body is going to be. I wish I could have decided earlier and painted the compartment the right color to start. Now I will have to pull the engine again to do it right. Oh well, when the engine is out I might just have to put a bigger cam in it. LOL

Yup, Since this is a numbers matching car, I must leave it GG1. Which I think will look awesome anyhow.

I have heard that if a person wants to find out how many friends they have just buy a trailer :D

No, that's how many friends that you THINK you have.... #-o

A friend in need, is a friend indeed.... :glasses7:

We are getting a full day of rain here.

What is this "rain" thing that you are all talking about??? :???:

We get some foggy or cloudy days here, and once in a while this round yellow thing appears in the sky.... :D

But can't remember the last time we had that rain stuff.... #-o

Good morning. Slept late today...

it's a rainy one here. Glad to have it. Wash away some of the salt and crud accumulation.

Good morning :coffee2:

I got your point. :idea1:

You have many "new" friends when you have a trailer or money.... :D

Well I looked into the gas tank/filler tube interference problem and the filler tube has .125" interference fit with the tube...

Talked to Wes at Mancini and he looked up what part they sent me, and it's the right part number...

I don't feel comfortable trying to grind it to get it to fit. Rubber can be tricky to "skim" off of. I had another idea to put the grommet on the filler tube and put it in the oven for a bit at like 150° - 250° (hot enough not to melt it) so maybe some of the internal stresses will be reduced and it will allow the rubber to creep enough for me to get this together. I'm just worried that I may melt or damage the grommet if I get it too hot...

I know from my underhood design experience that most rubbers and plastics are good to 250° F, and after that, can be affected by heat.... So I have to keep it from getting over 250°. Wes said that if I damage it trying to get it to work, that he'll take care of me...

So I have to give that a try sometime this weekend. I couldn't do it yesterday, as I was busy using the oven to cook a 22 lb ham....

The kid loved his first day on the job at the repair shop. He was a half hour early and the boss let him leave a half hour early in return. I told him that's a good thing, so if he needs to leave a little early sometime, just go in early to get your hours in, then you can leave early and still get full pay and no bad reflection on you for leaving early... He says that the boss is really cool and helps him when he needs it... He's excited about the job. He can't wait to work on some of the other cars there...

That is super Karl  Sounds like the beginning of a great job for him, proud for you and him :glasses7: the beginning of a good year looks like

Hey all, what rubber windshield gaskets do you prefer? Keith said he would come over and give me a hand with it one day. I prob could reuse the one but rather get a new one.

Mine is Precision brand from Dante's. Looked identical to the old one and fit good.

Before I do a search on Dante's should I type in windshield seals/ruber ?
Or did you find it somewhere ells ? Thank you :)

I want his Jeep if he gets tired of it Karl :D

Iwouldn't want to do that to you Mike. He beats it like a red-headed step child...

I also just put some awesome all-terrain tires on it that just set me back $900... But if he slides and wrecks it, it's all on him, he's got the best tires that I can get for it....

They have nice aggressive tread and kevlar reinforced side walls.... He played taxi service for his friends on Superbowl Sunday when we got a foot of snow.. That Jeep tore it up with no problems. His friends now want a Jeep like his after seeing it go through the snow so well...

I also use it as my official "***** car" to push/pull non running ones around my yard and into the garage... It's shorter than my truck and easier to maneuver...

My youngest son has the better Jeep, a 98 5.9 Limited with 45 k original miles.
The interior still smells like new. It was my dad's car and he didn't drive it very much (bad weather). Then I let mom use it until she died as long as I got it back when she was done with it. Dad special ordered it new, and it stickered around $45 k... The local Jeep dealer keeps sending me cards trying to buy it, but they are trying to offer blue book "standard" price. They think that I don't know that it is the special one year only edition of the 5.9 in the Grand Cherokee.. (I'm not as dumb as they look)...

They were only made in three colors, and dad's was the rarest - there was a quality hold on the white front grilles until the supplier could get the color match correct, so they were not made until December when the other colors were already available... Dad had to wait for them to fix the color match to get his...

I also put similar kevlar reinforced Goodyear all terrain tires on it for the snow this year also:

Here's the 5.9 Limited:

Good morning guys, I'm here, just being quiet, for a change!

Good morning David, I hope you have some plans for the day my friend :glasses7: Me, well waiting on this rain to stop, been at it for over 24 hours now and it is soaking in :coffee2:

Its a subcategory under weatherstripping...

http://dantesparts.com/glassgaskets.html

Tried to link it direct, but wants to go to his homepage. That may work if you are on a regular computer. I'm on an I pad, so not sure what screen you get. I go to ... In upper right corner. Select full website, then scroll to weatherstripping and windshield gaskets. From regular home screen I think you hit catalog to get the category listing.

Keith

We have a Sales/dealer in town that has a black one Karl and the old guy drives it all the time, still working for Jeep and is about 10s years older then I , Leather and big V8 , Ok I will take the white one :color: but still would take your sons work horse

Just going to putter around the house before going to work. We've had some very rainy weeks but the weather and the quality of our clientele at work is improving. We're having a wine sales contest, and I've sold some $300+ bottles, no wine country trip, this time the prize is $150 plus a very nice bottle of wine.

Morning David and Keith

Morn in' Ray,

Got that pond dug out yet? LOL

I did fish recovery on a pond, like 25 years ago...
We drained some of the water, layed pallets on the silt and walked out and netted them into 55gal drums to dump downstream. Got a little wet and muddy.
