You know, getting a Points type Dist. to spark is real simple, right? Your issue is more then likely a ground, the breaker plate has a ground strap that needs to be there, and the hold down clamp needs to be there as well, and a metal gasket, or "O" ring......
Pull the Dist. and coil, and wire it up on the bench.....Easier to trouble shoot on bench. Just need 12v to positive on coil, lead from Dist. to negative on coil, and ground the Dist. to the negative on Batt, or power supply...spin the shaft and see if there is a spark, if not, figure out why...

this got me thinking, does the coil need to be fully bolted down to be grounded?! I've had them just laying on the intake as I trouble shoot this

And FYI, a coil rarely is bad when it is cold. When the coil gets hot, that is usually when it fails...IMO

Hot Rod power tour is rolling through my area this June. I'm gonna do part of it. My buddy with his Superbird is in....I will be in my Challenger, my son may be in the Duster, how bout you? I think we are gonna do the Champaign Il to Davenport Ia leg....anybody???
Davenport to Madison (depending on the route) could be fun. Right along the Mississippi. Lots of hills and curves!

I have another option if I want it. I have the Mopar Performance Fast Advance Dizzy and Accel super coil, both are for an electronic ignition conversion, that would be an option to try I guess too.

When Dart is done, I will be doing the power tour. Would like a Overdrive trans for it tho, Maybe when the engine is out.......hmmmmm

Just trying to complicate it more. Start with easy stuff.
Pull wire off coil that connects to dist. One side of test light to that wire. Other to battery positive. Crank engine. Light should blink.

Like I said, simple...

Its just brutal outside. Wouldnt surprise me if its -40 with wind chill.
Wind is howling.

it rolled thru mine last year. Here's some pics. I'm hoping to do a good chunk of it this year in the polara but I dont know if I'll go into IL. No offense, but I don't like going into certain states and IL is one of them.

My thought is to drive to Champaign in the early morning and leave from there to Davenport, maybe stay the night in Davenport, then drive back home. Maybe we could meet up if you go.

Had a toyota a while back, a vent hose had holes in it,something bit it. There were definite tooth marks.
Yeah, I looked everywhere for leaks first, Then I checked the Purge solenoid and the bypass solenoid with 9vt battery. Found the bypass sol valve to be inop. Change that, All good now........
