Stop in for a cup of coffee

Morning comrades!!
Morning report says Santa is in trouble.
Evidently a politician learned he was promising presents for kids who were good.
Seems we have a Quid Pro Santa!!

Happy Thong Thursday, holiday edition!

We never leave the car at a show. Seen people and heard stories of what some dumba** have done.
they werent at the show though, they were in the hotels surrounding the venue in Charlotte, SC last year

morning all, its not a good one, so skip the coffee and pass the booze.

What now Chris?
My grandmother likely wont make it to Christmas, and if she does, it most assuredly will be her last. And we can't even check her out and bring her home from the nursing home for a few hours. 2 weeks ago, she had another stroke, spent a week in the hospital and seemed to be recovering, after a week in the nursing home, shes relapsed and has now lost control of all bodily functions but breathing and heart beats. completely wheel chair bound and having to be fed by staff. Can't even keep her eyes open.

Sorry to hear that. I was just remembering the last Christmas with my Dad. Same thing...stroke. Prayers coming your way

thanks. She has had a long fight with dementia but its finally coming to a close. She had a stroke about 26 months ago for the first time. and shes only gone down hill since. Typical path for the disease based on research. And part of me is glad it is finally nearing an end. I hate seeing her like this. It is literally the reversing of the brain back to a baby, then to a fetus, and eventually to nothing.

Uhm Xmass to see the grandkids?
ah yeah. I plan too, I thought you meant talk to her about it, she can't speak anymore and doesn't comprehend much. I've been limiting my trips into the nursing home at the docs recommendation. Right now, the only one she knows is my grandfather. She thinks I'm my uncle who died in 1988. Granted she did raise me from about that time on but still. She gets very upset when she doesn't recognize any one so bringing my kids in at this point will only further upset her. She realizes who I am after she hears my name but my siblings who are 6 years younger than I, she has no clue. So it's like her memory can be jogged up until 1988 (I was 2).

so on to happier thoughts.

I did test the coils last night @halifaxhops with that multimeter. Old coil registered absolutely nothing, 0.0. The new one registered .6 Ohms. Spec on the data sheet for it says it should be between .5 and .8 so it's good. I did do ToolJunkie's circuit test, could not get the test light to light up at all. So somewhere there is a break in the grounds. I'm gonna yank the dizzy and take some emery paper and go around the base of the mounting hole. Then i'm going to wire wheel around the one from the block to the fire wall. I did had a second from the head to the frame, but didn't wheel it, so I'll hit it too.

Good morning and bring on this day - not that I am wishing my life away, but the sooner for 4 the better. Off until Jan 2 then. Lots of shop time coming....

Your points arent closing. They are an on/off switch for all intents and purposes.
With the test light still connected you can determine where the fault is. Ground jumper on a small flat screwdriver.probe down the line until it lights.

what i used to do for a quick test when everything is connected properly was bridge points with a flat screwdriver, and coil wire set up near a ground. If all was good, you get a spark.

back to your conundrum. probe with the test light, clip on pos post.
dist housing should light, ground side of points should light.

the fargo sat for lord knows how long,
No spark either. I poked around with a test light and found points werent making “contact”. Cleaned and adjusted. And it fired.

Can do same with am ohmmeter, clip on coil end of wire and probe
The points. Looking for continuity, less resistance is better.
