Stop in for a cup of coffee

Furring strips usually better for the long run than ply or OSB.
Was a mistake on my house letting them put ply over the roofing boards. I should have gone with my instinct and training.
We are going in behind it with closed cell spray in foam. So hope it lasts a good long time.

ugh, pass the beer. Just learned our server at work had a malfunction, lost everything we've done in the last month. :BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Ply works good IF they are spaced properly.....

furring strips here by code, are only required to be 3/4 by 3/4. We've had screws pull right out of the stuff. So we go with 1x6s. cost is a bit more but seems to hold better.

Once its wet, everything is ruined. And it traps even smallest moisture up against the back of the tin. Works great until it doesn't :BangHead:
And it meant reworking the facia trim. I've seen works. An unnamed historic house and museum had a whole additional layer of lath added because the architect didn't want the slate attached to the original. I was working as a sub so didn;t have to deal with the trim issues or talk to the architect!

No screws with a tin roof!
Or slate!
unless the architect thinks thats a good idea too...
then you just zip yer lips and do the job like spec'd

You guys ever see any posts about working on the inside of the radios?

Cleaning the one from my car. Wasn't planning to do more than that.
But there's a hairline crack developing in the tall black one. I'd like to seal it up.

Del would be a good one to ask about that. My thoughts is being its a capacitor I doubt its seal-able and will eventually just fail.

Gee I spent a little time in the garage today, working on the Barracuda. A few littles, but closer to the original look.
Today was replaced the rear view mirror. The one on was for a 68 with the black backing with the day/night switch.
It took me awhile, but I finally found a nice chromed backed one with the day/night switch.
I'll tell ya that one year, 67 only convertible stuff is tough at times.

Did it then also have a brushed aluminum paint on some surfaces?

Yep, its nice. I was surprised how nice it was.
I was lucky to find one for a really good price.
I looked for a year...typical for some of the parts I've tracked down.

Information is not gone until you say it is gone.

All the info on those hard dives may still be there, but that particular computer may have blown some memory so it does not boot up properly. Power sources fry so the towers wont boot up or turn on.

Have had the boot sectors on the hard drives go bad so it won't boot up.
Clone copy the drive and and write it to a brand new hard drive, in the process it will write a new boot sector. I like using Acronis Imaging Software, there are a couple different ways to go about it.

Can also take a hard drive reader set up on another computer and see if it will spin up the hard drive, then go down into the shown folders and see if you can find the information everyone has been working on.

Then copy the info out to an external hard drive for safe keeping, load up another server and copy it back in.

Good to Go . . Have pulled some nasty lost information situations out of the fire, by being careful not to destroy what is left behind. Being patient and taking the time to think about safe ways to retrieve the data.

Being able just to see the data on the hard drive by itself is a big milestone, then you can figure out safe ways to copy it out and put things back into service again.

Having some good luck on your side helps too.

Good Luck with your Data Recovery.

Wasn’t my machine, it’s on the main server, it is working it but they don’t think it’s recoverable because of how we save it

Usually when a Cap. fails, it cracks. Or explodes....they are actually designed that way....

Well it was working fine. But I know some can leak oil . Maybe that's after they explode!
