Chris let me get out in shop I will take a pix of a handy way to solve your lap weld issue with a home made C clamp modification. Half the guys on here likely have several in their box’s. You cut off one side of clamp and weld on a foot. Then tack base of foot to offending piece and screw down c clamp. I will post a pix here in a bit. You think you are frustrated now, cut it out and try butt welding it all and you will push car off a cliff.
 
OK, what kind of welder, how much voltage,size of wire. Circuit amps, running through a extension cord, Co2 or Argon/co2, pushing the weld or pulling? That's it so far.
 
Chris here is the clamp I was explaining. You can see remnants of weld on the base. That is where you tack it to the lower of the two pieces. Then simply screw down on to the offending raised piece. It will then succumb to your will. We call it heat and beat! (Que Karl)

To keep my floor pans tight till I tacked them I set a cinder block on them. LOL
 
My new tenants have been here since Monday, and their furnishings came today. " they are campers and have a 45ft tow behind" so they been camping in the driveway for a few days. He wanted to open the pool, so he started on that 3 days ago. Yesterday a county building inspector showed up here and nixed my pool fence. I KNOW the DH across the street called the county....Pisses me off ROYALLY... Might be some Drama around here for a while. My new tenant is an Army LTC, he said he'll take care of the guy... I say . let it lie for a few days and see.....

Lincoln Pro 180 mig, Argon mix. .025 wire.

see above^. 30 amp, 240 volt, pushing the weld. No extension cord, 6 feet from the break box.

I did that as well haha, problem is the back side. Talked to OMR, probably gonna use a floor jack and a 2x4 to put upward pressure on the the floor pan
 
I use my portopower and a cushion for the roof or a 2x4 through the windows.
 
Got alignment done on acura, didnt think it would happen today. Had to loosen strut mounting bolts with weight on wheels to get some negative camber. Should drive better now. Just have one stuck jam nut on tie rod end to loosen. Pull wheel again.
