Stop in for a cup of coffee

Ours is a gas fireplace...just flip the switch and it’s on. The thermopile from the pilot provides the power to activate the switch, so it works even if the power is out. Can even put a thermostat on it if we decide to. Nice and cozy!
The neighbor has a gas and uses it regularly. Always toasty in their living room. It has a real nice insert that looks very real. I could dig that. Out hearth is so large it doesn't draw well. It takes so much oxygen out of the room you have to open the front door to feed it. LOL

Ours feeds air for combustion from outside and runs it through a heat exchanger with the exhaust heat on the way in. Net zero pull from the house and the insert has a shell that passively pulls the cool air from the floor around the firebox and pumps the warmed air back into the room.

I could probably heat the whole house with it for just a little more than it costs to run the main furnace.

All I accomplished today was getting my shop sorta straightened up, couldn't get to a cabinet. Did get the rear axle that was hanging from my engine hoist plopped down on a work table. Time for pictures of those brakes lol!

Sparky likes the fireplace too...

Roast doggie! LOL!

Thanks to the recent windstorm took 2 trailers full of branches in. Here's my 8.25, never had one apart so should be fun.

No fireplace here, just the wood stove in the basement. Have had it going strong most of the last week. Put a CSL log in last night and cleaned the pipe this morning. Also stacked the wood I threw in the stairway the other day. Hopefully we don't get too much snow cause I need to get more from the stacks outside soon.

We are a bit behind you as the snow didn’t start here until around 1 pm. We have about 3” now but they are forecasting it to become heavy overnight. Storm total for us is now forecast at 12”-18”.

We don’t need to go anywhere, so I will wait until it’s over to begin clearing. Last time we did it part way through the storm, we got mixed rain/freezing rain that made it harder to clear in the end after it froze solid down to the asphalt. The parts we didn’t clear only had a crust on top and were a lot easier to dig out.

This storm has a risk of mixed precipitation around midnight tonight so I’m just letting it all be.
I think they still have us in 12-18. As far as I saw no freezing rain expected here. Otherwise I agree - you don't want that on the bottom.
As of now, I still have work tomorrow afternoon. So figure I will be doing another cleanup round before that.

Morning!
18f this morning. Not bad at all.
Tomorrow will be 30f
And snow wednesday.
