Stop in for a cup of coffee

Huh, never mind then, good to know.
Eastwood products actually sells a gas tank epoxy based sealant for this type of repair. But it’s not much cheaper than just replacing the tank. If it were me, I’d buy new tank, powder coat it then epoxy it from the inside and it should never rust

There is a tank sealant kit made by several companies.

but the new tank is the best way to go. Mainly because its easy to get and cheap.
I paid $325 canuckistan pesos for the 65 Barracuda tank. And my tank wasnt that bad, but im not screwing around to clean it.

the time i used the sealing kit,was in a ‘27 studebaker, not an easy tank to find new.

When I restored my 59 Sweptside the top of tank had rust through. No repro tanks available so had it welded ,cleaned, and coated on inside. About 15 yrs ago and no problems

Matches the exterior.
Hey Ray! Remember the tiny ankle biter from last fall?! He can ride his bike without training wheels! Proud papa moment as he loves falling and crashing lol

My daughter can now as well. Taught them both in an afternoon

That’s what I was thinking

So I was told a story from an old mechanic. Gas tank was leaking on a customer's car. The old shop owner told him to fix it. He didn't know how. Old guy showed him. Start the car on the lift, cover exhaust with a hose, feed other end in gas tank filler neck so all exhaust is blowing in the tank. Grabbed the welder, and welded the tank, right there, while running with gas in tank. He freaked. Old guy says, won't blow up without air, the carbon monoxide will not let it ignite!! This person never tried it himself, was a mechanic his whole life and 100% honest. I would never, but it is said to have taken place. Scary ****

I just am going to get a new tank. I already spent multiple days trying to clean, seal, un dent this one and I just need to get it running already.

Never heard of them. Vans Auto has lots of Mopar restoration parts. It is where I got my tank and fuel line, etc. A friend owns it and thankfully are within 10 minutes. Check them out.

Evening, nice day here in Grand Junction, mid 80s. Heading to Salt Lake tomorrow, meeting a friend as he is driving through tomorrow.

Teamster mechanic mentor of mine and long time co-worker of my father tells me one day "Fill the diesel tank all the way to the top. Use 1/8" 6013 welding rod, set the arc welder a little on the hot side and haul ***." I watched him use this technique on a skip loader tank one day, vertical crack in a seam. Started at the top of the seam and hauled *** down the leak. Little jet of flame now and again. I've used the auto exhaust and oxy acetylene on motorcicle tanks. When my Yota 4x4 tank got a rusty pinhole in it I drained the tank, sanded the paint off acetoned it to get the remaining oils off and used an industrial epoxy we had at the rock farm with it's fabric reinforcement material.

F'n post office...:soapbox:
Coil for the Neon was supposed to be here today. Haven't seen a new tracking update today, but last it shows it's right where it started in Florida. :wtf: Car ran rough again today and threw the misfire code...
