Stop in for a cup of coffee

Took pan back off. I think I see why it was leaking. But everyone will agree the rear of the small block is the most problematic for oil leaks. So WTF did some engineer think it was a good idea to have the smallest sealing area of the entire pan at the rear?

The black area is the sealing area....
???? I don't know much, but shouldn't the seal be the entire width of that surface? because you know....sealing purposes.

Well I found the source of my pan leak. I feel stupid so I'm not going to post it here.....

Racing 4x4s in the old days would have a very slightly higher gear ratio in the front diff than the rear, lessening the understeer likelyhood. Theorhetically to pull the Bronco, Blazer, Jeep through the corners rather than the rear drivers pushing it into the ditch :steering:

Ok. I'm telling why. In case someone else has the same issue. The 408 I have is magnum based. They only put magnums in trucks. No cars. So all the sumps are rear. So you have to use a L.A. pan. Magnum pans use a one piece gasket. But you cannot use magnum gasket with L.A. pan. You have to use a 4 piece gasket for LA engines. Or they leak under pressure. There you have it.

This info might be in the magnum swap thread but I did not see it...

Mustang in shop, all stainless brake lines. How does the guy finish it? Tie wraps the rear hose to fuel line. So its here for a slight modification, angle bracket and a drill tap. Mount it and bleed brakes. There is an issue there too,as not one drop of fluid came out.
