So should he have said Spanish American? Was the person from Spain? Is the person an American? Would Hispanic been the choice word? Wouldn't a person from Mexico be a Mexican? Like, Canadians, Americans, Cubans, Africans,.....WTF

Would a picture of me be Norwegian American? American? just white? Likely different rules there.

When I lived in Yuma my American neighbor of Mexican descent referred to those coming across the border as "Mexicans".... actually he referred to them as "expletive" Mexicans. :p. I'm certain the teacher was a world traveler and exposed to a variety of cultures before bringing judgement down.

I feel sorry for kids today...especially young boys.

It's a matter of denying reality to fit a narrative.
The reality is people look different and we, rightly or wrongly, try to characterize for identification purposes.
He didn't say anything disparaging or insulting.
We still use such labels for identification all the time in the US. Granted they get misused by some, but that doesn't change the reality.

Right here in the Midwest Mexican is a common term as is Mexican food, Mexican restaurant, etc...
It's just another teacher trying to change a culture.
And really, it's not their job. Look at all the athletes in the Olympics that are "American" but competing for their heritage country. Your grandson didn't call the person a Spic or Wetback. He looked Mexican. He wasn't name calling. It seems that the people that have an issue with that are the ones that are racially prejudice. They are putting people in specific racial boxes.

Now back to the weather: It will be cloudy today with winds increasing this afternoon. Highs will be in the mid to upper 40's. Enjoy your day.

So get a phone call yesterday. Have a dist for a 70 440-6? Yes 875, oh i just want it for the one on my engine run stand!:BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead::BangHead:

Yep Mike. Predjudice in their own way, and one they can't see unfortunately. It may not be racial, but it is a prejudgment based on a narrative.
I'm all in favor of people of different heritages and individuals finding their own narratives for family history and other connections to the past. Too many think that inclusion means exclusion. Huh? That's the same failing as the one we agreed was unhelpful and made some feel left out.

I was just the chubby farm kid that got picked last at sports. I was the guy the jocks came to when they wanted a question answered about their car or help them in shop class though!

Gotta love flintlocks! I have one for deer hunting from a kit. Great Plains musket I believe it is. Freaking accurate.

I'm pretty curious how I'll do with a military load. Will help take up some of the windage but I expect it will group faily large. Also no rear sight so consistancy will all be in my technique or lack of.

I shoot Sabots or Minnie balls in mine way more accurate. Man I have not shot that since before I got sick.

I was often the youngest and smallest so not surprising often picked last. So it goes. We all live and learn.
