I have used the ones with the side zipper for years really like them. Have a Kevlar toe instead of steel really light. Let me find a link.Undecided as of yet. Agree that a high end set of assaulter boots will age well. I'd like to get back to leather boots versus the "sneaker" variety.
I build the pile yr round then light it up late winter then start all over again
Between the PD and military, I wore boots for 33 years. Now all I wear are tennis shoes 95% of the time. Buy two pair a year.
Happy Easter everyone. So last night, while taking pics of the full moon, I saw a small herd of cattle running thru my yard. That's a first. I drove to the farm I thought they were from, nobody home. Next farm...they called the first ones. Midnight mass. I woke today to them finally coming home with am escort. Good to see!

I see a grill, I see a cow, just sayin' : )
My yard shoes are Brooks they have a wider toe box and perfect for the uneven sloped ground I deal with. Now workout and running shoes, I go through pretty routinely. Altra is the brand. I have 4 pairs in rotation currently.

That's what I would like to do including my stumps but the permit police have come out here and shut down a fire, don't want to deal with that. That guy had poured a TON of diesel to get his going and it really never did and the fumes were going to a neighboring property who called it in. Got any tricks/tips for burning stumps?
Yep, that style is what I wore at the PD year around very comfortable.
Every place I have worked I had boot allowance of $60-75, so usually got new every year. Ive tried a number of brands. Actually liked Timberlands the best. I say liked, because I have had 4 of the same and they all felt pretty good from new except the most recent pair are terrible. Have been wearing them like one day a week to try breaking them in. Luckily my old ones are still wearable. I had a couple pairs of Red Wings, Good boots, but made in China like so many others now. As I recall they were both easy break-in, but I cant say they were any better than the older Timberland's at twice the price.
Snow scheduled today here as well. But only a 90% chance so it may not.Cold and damp here today. Talking about possible snow showers tonight. WTF?

Last pair of cat boots i had, there were grey inserts in the soles, coarse gravel chewed up the inserts in a month and water went right through. I had to fight for warranty, and when the replacements came in i gave them away.thats when i switched to timberlines. Can walk in 4” of water with them.I buy China made Caterpillar steel toe, have two pair, switch pair every other day, buy a new pair every yr when the older ones wear out
