Stop in for a cup of coffee

So I’m having to make a decision much sooner than I wanted on what to do with this big *** grain bin I bought before my grandfather passed away. At the time, the plans was to use it for its intended purpose as an extra grain bin.
However, due to odd circumstances, that will no longer be happening.

so i have a few options.

1: Scrap it and get as much money as I can for it. I’m in it for 1500. It might bring 3/4ths that at scrap, maybe.

2. Gazebo/out door area- this option is the most popular amongst the family, but also gonna cost a couple grand to do.

3. Garage/shop it. Something I desperately need. This option will require about 2100 bucks in concrete, another grand or so in a garage door. And probably another 1000-1500 in equipment to raise it up. So 4k, I can have a 27 foot diameter, 25 feet tall garage, which gives me a couple floors eventually of an office or play area for minions etc. I personally like this option the best.

Option 4: raise it, turn it into an AirBnB, make some revenue off of it. But this option requires about 3,000 in permits, plus 30-50k in interior work to meet county codes. Not an option In reality

Yes. But the difference there is I know it’d get used like 5 time a year and that’s be it.

Mean while, where else could I build a shop for less than 5k?

What I’m debating is do I have enough space to clear two cars the size of an A body, inside the thing. On paper, yea, I’ll have about 5 feet between the cars and still have room on the outside to walk around.

Quick sketch up of the concept just to see if they’d fit

Pulled valve covers off the 454. most of the rockers are loose, and fine metal particles in the oil. I can safely assume cam is toast? The adjuster nuts are tight,so they didnt back off.
my guess is this is an untouched greasepot that was painted and some fancy bits stuck onto it.

Anyone have a handy digital source for the length and width, overall of a 74 swinger? My chassis manual isn’t on hand at the moment and I need the dimensions. Google gives me some but I want to confirm

    • characteristic dimensions: outside length: 5123 mm / 201.7 in, width: 1768 mm / 69.6 in, wheelbase: 2819 mm / 111 in

27dia gives a 19x19 square way to tight for 2 cars. Even with the little extra at sides and back storage at best. I would consider that a one car for working on anything..
Good point. Hmmm hmmm. I guess I could do what I’ve been doing, wheel the cars out to work on it as needed. But hopefully the dart won’t need much more

Mike tell him to 1st check the battery. The rest of the tests are require working with a good battery that is charged.
Simplest at home load test is measure the battery voltage when starting. Under 9.5 V and the battery needs a charge or replacement.

Next, he should observe the ammeter with the engine running. Is the battery getting charged at fast idle? How about slow idle? Once its charged (centered) turn on the lights and see if the battery is supplying power to the lights (discharge). If it is, then he can investigate the charging system - could be anything from idling too slow to blown diode.
