It's called inflation and it is a balancing act. Wars and pandemics figure into it, as do trade wars.......Your smart Chris, you know this....................Been happening since money was invented......
The guy that bought that wing car might have had a good job back then. Made $100 a week. That's $5200 a year. Last year when he retired he was making $150,000 a year. It's all relative like I said.
This is true, but it’s deeper than that. This is what happens to fiat currencies. Everytime. And the only people to blame…. Ourselves. We voted for the dumbasses that got us here, on both sides of the aisle
Ehh yes and no. It’s a proven fact that certain large items have outpaced inflation and then some. But that’s a multifaceted discussion with a multitude of variable factors that all caused it. But the largest in all three of the largest items, government regulation, for better or worse, cost did skyrocket predictably after the inept booger eaters in DC stuck their fingers into a system that wasn’t broke. They broke what wasn’t broke.

I will say this, when I was working with hr to get my tax stuff fixed this morning, started doing so math.
county taxes withheld by the end of the year and the time to pay those= .75 weeks of work just it pay those.
state taxes= 2.25 weeks just to pay those
Federal= 5.5 weeks just to pay those
Medical= 2.25 weeks
Social security= 5.5 weeks to pay those.
16.25 weeks worth of work at my current salary rate goes to just paying payroll taxes. That’s before sales taxes, and any of the other numerous taxes.
