Stop in for a cup of coffee

-
night owl! LOL - hey, how goes the 408 build? did you ever get that off the ground?
nah, I am up now because I slept in yesterday and then slept most of the evening away and slept really hardy last night so I am feeling charged and ready for a roaring Monday!!

I am building a 360 ...no fancy stroker stuff for my El cheapo 75 dart.

I have not really started yet because of money .....I have to buy hone stones and a cam bearing tool. I am trying to do as much in-house as possible because our local machine shop went out of business so the nearest one is like an hour and a half away.....and I don't like it because I had a trusted machinist here, but he retired at age 81 last fall.

I can't figure out whats bugging me but I haven't slept for chit for a week... lucky to get 6hrs a night. So a 360 for that black $600 Dart you acquired recently? That was a good score, looks like it is pretty complete..

ahh.. starting to feel a bit more with it here... first coffee down - it's amazing how the stuff really does work for me.. probably why I rarely have more than 2 a day, stuff jacks me up pretty good - any more and I'd be bouncing off the dang walls

yes the black dart ...her name is "Laila" I actually paid 500. for her LOL

It is very complete and rust free which is typical for this climate, the guy is moving and needed to dump it and he figured no one would want it because it's a 75.

I wanted it the minute I saw it but I played the game and made comments like "well, I don't know, that is a bad year" ......and ...."beaks are not so popular you know" Laughing to myself because I had to have it. LOL

I need to find something like that - I have a complete drive train and a boat load of other pieces-n-parts but need a shell to stuff 'em into... of course it has to be THE right car because my wife will flip a lid if/when I come home with a project car.. so it'll need to be something I can do fairly quickly...

the cool thing about Laila is it is an original slant six car but somewhere along the line someone swapped it to a V8 so there is a junk 318 in there now that does not run but whoever did the conversion put a spool mount V8 K - frame in it ....so the 360 is going to drop right in and it already had disc brakes with the sway bar.

ah the classic story ...either parents or spouses ruin the fun .......that is why I like cats

she just doesn't want to see me overwhelmed with projects - the Scamp was supposed to be a driver - nothing but maintenance... yeah.. It was my wife that essentially talked me into buying the Scamp and supported me 100% while I built my Harley - - it's all good :)

nice - that'll be cool as heck when it's done! and really different too being a 75

4 speed swap is coming too :D

I have a 66 833 with the 26 spline output ...that is the smaller output shaft so it's not as tough as the later 4 speed 30 spline output but I am thinking it should hold a mild 360....???

I have had it for years and I wasn't sure what to do with it because when I bought it, I didn't know the difference in output shafts then. I felt kinda screwed over on it, so I might as well use it and hope the 360 doesn't kill it.

You really need to get an education to go to swap meets, people prey on others who don't know what they are looking at yet

yea, I took a "bath" several times buying crap at swap meets - some people just don't give a crap.. they just want the parts gone and will sell it to anyone with the $$ - buyer beware all the way! it is definitely part of the learning curve..

Look at Napa for a good ball hone. they are not too expensive and easy to use...

yea, I wonder how some people sleep at night.

The universe balances out tho.....for everytime I got taken advantage of on a deal because I didn't know what I was doing ......I have also had some mega awesome deals come my way as well.

I figure God is an accountant and it will all come out in the end.

I am thinking one each of 120 grit and 320 grit should be about right.....do you think the 240 grit is necessary ??

Let me go look at what I have....

Another Monday is here, and that 75 Dart of yours Rainy is a great buy these days, hard to even touch one around here in that shape for less than a grand if one can be found  40 plus years old and complete is a blessing I believe :D
Monday is my first day to myself, I cater to my wife Friday,Saturday and Sunday so today I can work on a few things in the shop, maintenance on my lawn mower and trim some tree limbs is on my list to enjoy today.
Good morning everyone :welcome:

good morning Mr. Valiant man.

i live in the wrong place to have a car addiction because dry desert climates are kind to old cars and i get them with beautiful metal but usually the interiors are trashed.

Dash pads around here usually look like someone had them in a 1000 degree oven ...all summer.

These days are coming to an end tho because cars are disappearing and now the great State of Colorado is making it harder to title an old vehicle with no paper trail. They want these old cars gone, or so it seems in their actions. They would rather tax you full retail on a brand new car than some old car with the "collector plate discount"

The 2492 is for a 3 1/2" - 4" bore...

The 2493 is for a 4" to 4 1/2" bore...

Sometimes they come in the blister pack, sometimes they come in a box....

the 360 is right in the middle of those, so you can pick either one. But if you use the 2493, then it will fit most engines 340/360 and up...

I believe that they are 120 grit. I have had good luck with them. The rings will smooth out the bore as needed on break in...

Moly rings break in faster and will last longer on a street car.

Hello Memike...

How's the 360 swap going???

We finally may have a dry day today. It's been cold & raining for most of last week and not much car time... :(

Plus school ends in two weeks, end of semester overload....

I've also been building the 340 with Eddie for his 69 Dart. We're close, just need to get the right push rods and we can finish assembly and start getting it painted and bolted to the trans. Then dress it... :)

Then get the Dart down here and swap the engine and trans. Get a new drive shaft made, then off to the exhaust shop to get the exhaust connected.... :p

It sounds easy....

I'll take sun faded interior over rusted out sheet metal any day....

Good morning Coffee creatures. Another work week begins. Been short 1 of 2 warehouse managers for about a year so I've been picking up that slack, not horrible. On Saturday, my remaining manager gave notice. My worklife is fixing to suck for a while...

Morning all you early risers that can shift their brain into 1st gear today!

Buying and selling parts, should be a board game for sure. I always try to treat everyone the way I want to be treated and it usually is good then.
