Stop in for a cup of coffee

Not Married anymore It's been like 20 years without a wife and remember being married to a farm girl and would try to take a nap in the afternoon after a hard week at work. Wife would always tell me to go outside and fix something and not be lazy. Well Figured out how to take a nap and make the misses happy. Crawled under my car with a few tools and took a nap. Car seemed to run better and wife was happy.

pulleys are a pain in the ***.. i need to find a crank pulley for mine.. or just a matching set. wish i had grabbed the ones that were for sale on here a week or so ago
OK. IMO. Get a full set if you can. Heck pull them yourself if possible.

well.
Here's how it went for me.
The first big car project I took on was the 67 Barracuda that I still have. The slanty was pretty tired, or so it seemed, and had two coats of paint on it. My friends, or should that be "friends" convinced me it was "just as easy" to swap in a v-8.
Lesson Learned.
I would never do that swap again unless I had a car to pull all the parts needed from.
Ok maybe that sounds extreme, and now I have much more experience and access to all sorts of books etc, but even so.
I think I hit the junk yards every other week, certainly every month, as I would "discover" some other part was not the same needed for the v-8, or for '67, or both.
My car still has non matching axle shock plates (works fine but the studs use diffent size nuts) and some things like that.

My point is that IMHO it can be a big project, even though some aspects are a little easier on the earlier cars (like the K-frame).

I ended up going with aftermarket pulleys because of alignment issues. Then had to buy another crank puylley because the set had been an under drive set.

Aside: One of those junk yard trips got me a ticket in the insane asylum (Graystone). It wasn't even my car! I did avoid the speeding ticket, but they got me on the inspection.

One big advantage now is the easier access to the factory books and all of the knowledge here and places like this.
2463 376 looks to be the only V8 option for the Valiant for the fan. Thanks for the chart... It should be a 4-blade apparently.
I see at least three fixed fans for the v-8 from '64 to 66.
One thing I think we can be sure of is that 17" diameter is the maximum.
No go on those numbers Chris.

from the 1964 and 66 parts books and 1966 Shop manual
2463 376 looks to be a 6 blade fan, 2"blades, 17" diameter.

We also see the 4 blade fan is noted as new in 1965. That's the funny symbol in front of the part number.

I realize the books don't completely agree with each other, but you're holding a 6 blade fan, and if its got 17" diameter and 2" blades that would be plenty of proof.

The four blade version would also work.

Next thing to check is if they all use the same spacer.
I would think they do, unless there was an engine compartment change or differnece between Dodge, Plymouth and canadian models.

Hang onto the spaver you have until someone can compare.
2" might be a nominal measurement and you've got the correct one even though its a hair longer.

I tried that but the wife got wise fast

Hey there Mat...

Thanks...

Yeah, my thought is to keep it at 17" and whichever will draw more air whether 4 or 6 blade. I've seen both 2" and 2 1/8" spacers... but I'm also getting a new radiator so that'll drive which I should think.

I had to cut my spacer down to fit shroud correctly it's about an inch

Thanks! My Boy Hamlin did me proud this week! I think I may have finally got around you on the NASCAR points standings!
I will catch you, my Penske men are having some set backs, but I think it will be much better next week.

My friend in Del. just sent out a circular (e-mail version) reminding everyone.

I haven't had any heating issues with a 4 blade and no shroud.
I think I had a few things contributing to my over heating issue. Mainly I think was the pulley size. But I shotgunned the issue and Fabed a shroud, and a new fan, and.................................Good now.

You have a lot hotter mill than my lil' 273.

Good morning. Chance of showers and thunderstorms today. Getting the new gutters installed and hopefully they show up on time. Supposed to be here around 8-830

Well. A fun night. I found out what caused my problem Saturday.
I'm in the hospital with a blood clot in my right lung.
They are trying to dissolve it with blood thinners.
I'll find out today how long I'm in for.
