Stop in for a cup of coffee

My JD 445 is 28 yrs old. 800 hrs on it now. Has the Kawasaki 23 hp gas engine. Fuel injected and liquid cooled. Has been a great tractor. But I maintain it regularly. After 28 years now the deck has developed a couple of rust holes through. Guess I'll just well plates on it. Paid a lot of money for it in 1995 but it has served me well.

The daughter had to take over brisket duty, sent me these pics around midnight, glad I used the "Texas Crutch" wrapping in pink butcher paper at 165 degrees or I think it would still be smoking lol!

That's a lot of years. I think mine is slowing down going up hills, that scares me because I don't know how to service the non-serviceable transmission. I think some guys actually tap fittings into them to drain/change the fluid. It's only 5 years old but I do pull a big cart behind it sometimes and mow up some fairly steep hills, will have to figure it out.

Morning guys speaking of lawn mowers I dug mine out of storage yesterday it's an old Cub Cadet 0 turn I bought used 5 or so years ago and works great.

Morning!
10°, high of 27°, 79f. Thats going to be hot.
Caravan for wheel change and a brake job. Honda for a brake job. Lincoln pickup for a misfire-again.

Did i mention the squeaking belt fix?
Friday a friend sent his daughter to me to look at belt noise. Grabbed my chalkline chalk powder and gave the belt a little dusting. Noise gone. Its instant and lasts a while. I usually use baby powder but i was out. Feet powder works too.
Lincoln pickup? Seen a Navigator, didn't know they made a truck?

Down the road might consider a zero turn, won't likely be able to pull my JD trailer behind but am hoping to have a UTV by then. Wondering how wide of a deck they make those in, have a 54 inch to save time.

I would kill for a zero turn.. bastards are not cheap though

Think mine is a 54" and love it it's fast and can spin it around the trees so less time on the weed eater.

After about ten years, my zero turn is FINALLY starting to grow on me. Getting it running about as good as new didn't hurt. They're different for sure.

Surplus center has them under $50.

I bought one last year. Sort it by price.

Looks good. Once it hit's the stall and you wrap it you can cheat and finish it it he oven at 225°. It won't absorb any more smoke at that temp especially after it has been wrapped. Pull it when the internal temp is 203° (magic number) and set it in a cooler for a couple hours. That's my success story.

Did you finally get her running right? I saw you were having issues.

Thanks and I've read about the oven, why not. For the recipe I followed they actually cooked it at 250 citing 60 minutes per pound vice 90 min with no noticeable difference in texture etc. Not sure I'm buying all that, and they have you start poking the meat with a quick read once it hits 195 saying it can be "done" in quite a range of temps (although I've heard 203 is the magic number). I'll tweak this around, first one with new smoker.

I just changed the hydro fluid on my JD. It was the non-filter/non serviceable unit but online shows 2 bolts to take out of the housing that go into the sump to drain the fluid. It was pretty easy.

I don't do much weed whacking. No zero turn, but I've added mulch rings (wood chips) around a few trees so I can just cruise around them. Most are down back, so I don't keep the mulch perfect. Just spray it for weeds occasionally. Otherwise gotta go around a couple times to get close.

Good Morning
