Had 5 deer in 1 pic and 11 raccoon in 1 pic on trail cam 2 weeks ago. Not so many

We have a few come through in the evening when we're on the deck. I'll talk to them and sometimes they'll just stop and listen for a minute or two.
Funny thing is when we have a friend over sitting with us when they get a whiff of a stranger they turn and go back.
We have several trail cameras set up. I am replacing the cards and checking batteries this weekend
I usually let the cams go for several months before I check them. I don’t have any cell service once I am away from the house so I didn’t waste money on ones I could view on my phone
