Stop in for a cup of coffee

I have had to use an air chisel on the filter base a few times but just because the gorilla that put the filter on didn't lube the rubber seal. :mob: :mob:

Thanks, when I did that the skin of the filter just tore open on both sides where screwdriver went in and out of filter. Also I did it towards the "top" of filter because I didn't know how far into the filter body the oil tube/pipe protruded, didn't want to hit it.
I have changed thousands of oil filters. The stuck ones are always a *****. One so bad, i cut everything off right to the plate o-ring sits in. Then air hammer to get it moving. That was the worst one ever.
Lack of oil on the o-ring is always the issue.
Seems hydraulic oil also causes a problem too. Motor oil is best. Grease is bad too.
Owner at gas station used diesel fuel to lube o-ring. Mistake. I went and got my good filter wrench and removed it for him.
He bent 2 filter wrench handles.

I have a friend from Belgium, that whenever he writes up a work report and some "gorilla" sees the torque spec as a challenge, refers to him as Thorfin the Skullsplitter. From the old movie Eric the Viking.

Only after you destroy the filter can by using other removal methods.

While on a deployment...someone just had to get the oil changed in the truck ... used a jiffy lube.. I think they used air tools to put the filter on. I went there when I got back and made such a ruckus they sent one of their guys to work on the truck in the apartment parking lot.

Good morning. Coffee is on here and it's going to be a nice day in the upper 70s and sunshine.

Well good morning all y’all. Put up some pages for sure while I was out playing the helpless husband. Jodi has been a Saint. When I was in pre op and the anesthesiologist approached me with the four ft long needle to jab in my neck I knew I was in for a ride. He told me I might want to be very still and look away. He used a sonagram machine to stab me in the nerve bundle. It was eErie watching him guide needle in via the screen. But holy smokes when they say it is a nerve block they be serious. It lasted almost thirty hours. Arm was lifeless. But when it wore off…. Morphine and oxy could barely keep it palatable. Today is my first narcotic free day and I am liking it. Not really sure what the attraction is to oxy as it just made me go to sleep? Getting ready to head off to first official PT session. If anyone is curious getting a total shoulder replacement is a no fun event. But honestly I think I have less pain today than prior to surgery. So all good. Surgeon did tell me in no uncertain terms I got my moneys worth out of the original parts! He explained no real traumatic evidence of major injury just fundamentally flat wore out! Basically gone. Heck I could have told him that for free!

Good to see you back John and glad things seem to have gone pretty smoothly.

P.T. = Physical Terrorists

I wonder if the rehab from full replacement is almost easier? I had to do a lot of work to just break down scar tissue before getting to range of motion and strength. Interested in hearing how it goes.

Got my new tires for my Harley Davidson. Going to go ahead and pull the front and rear wheels off and take them to my buddy to have new tires installed. After further inspection, I see that the rear drive belt has a hole in it from the outside. I'm going to have to replace that also soon. But you have to disassemble the entire primary side of the motorcycle in order to get to the inner pulley. Sounds like fun. Probably do that next week.

Hey all. Good morning men. Worst thing about tight filters is sometimes you cannot get to the base to air chisel it off. I had to pull an engine to get one off back in my navy hobby shop days..
