No no no. When I say scotch pads, I’m talking the ones for scrubbing kitchen counters, the little rectangular green suckers. It takes a lot for elbow grease but they work fairly well. You say Scotchbrite and I immediately think of the pads on the wheels for the diegrinder. (Same material as the pads although not as aggressive) Back about 10 or so years ago GM did a study as to why they were having so many lower end issues. (Bearings and such) most of the lower end failures had an intake revealed and Scotchbrite pads were used for gasket surface cleaning. Immediately, Bristle Disc's were designed and recommended.
Do you mean the SOS pads with the soap on them? The steel wool ones? Or the green square scotchbrite. I’m just asking to keep this all straight. No no no. There you go, Scotchbrite is all encompassing. From pot scrubbers to nasty die grinder accessoriesDo you mean the SOS pads with the soap on them? The steel wool ones? Or the green square scotchbrite. I’m just asking to keep this all straight.
I used one of those neat disc pads for cleaning the gasket surface on the cast iron right angle oil fliter adapter. Took three gasket sets and two runs to Tillman's speed shop before I figured out it was a SIW. Time saver. For any going into the coolant jacket. Exhaust manifold studs for sure. Intake bolts - I don't recall any going through.
If you can makes sparks fly with a "gasket remover product" it can't be good.I used one of those neat disc pads for cleaning the gasket surface on the cast iron right angle oil fliter adapter. Yes they doI have a long arm scraper that holds a razor blade. Usually works well. The Scotchbrite squares work ok but that dust and fibers get everywhere

If it was that obvious I would have had a clue. Green pad IIRC. but there was also red and maybe blue?If you can makes sparks fly with a "gasket remover product" it can't be good.
Prayers to ya Chris.on a different note, please say an extra prayer tonight for us. Tomorrow is the first step of many to hopefully get justice. It’s gonna be a rough day for everyone here.
My husband gets that same look on his face often with me. Then it’s followed by…listen lady

Oh, and I only put sealer on the replaceable part and not on the block or head. Easier to wire brush a gasket off a thermostat housing than it is the intake.
Green Scotchbrite is green Scotchbrite.
Except one spins at 12000 Rpm’s and the other doesn’t. So yeah, it’s gonna dust up at that speed.
Agreed but the abrasive is the same. It's like a piece of sandpaper.Except one spins at 12000 Rpm’s and the other doesn’t. So yeah, it’s gonna dust up at that speed.
