Stop in for a cup of coffee

I like to collect the Jenney stuff but it's really hard to find.

My Grandfather had a Jenney Station for most of his life in Derry N.H. and I used to love spending time there as a kid. I even found this old photo of his station by chance taken by the Jenney corporation back in the late 1940's when they were documenting all of their franchises.

I have a large print of it made from the original glass negative found in an estate auction and rescued by a collector of vintage gas station memorabilia. The detail in the actual print is incredible.

I think I'll play that address number for a few days.

Thank You.

The far side of the pond is my South property line. My South and West lines border the Ouachita National Forest.

The east end of mine is right where the earth curves. I see nothing but sky.

Well that's my problem. I have other properties also and do the same. The new tax increases will put the rent out of reach for my tenants.

My uncle has some rental properties and the taxes are killing him also. He plans to sell out and move south soon....

Jenny? I'm obviously from Iowa! lol

Here's the History...

Bernard Jenney (1827-1918) began the Jenney Manufacturing Company with his brother Francis H. Jenney in 1861; in 1812 their father Stephen Jenney had founded Jenney Oil Company in Boston as a kerosene, coal and whale oil concern. The Jenney bothers initially manufactured burning fluids, a mixture of camphene and alcohol, and after 1856 dealt exclusively in the production and distribution of petroleum. It was said that by the early twentieth century the works of Jenney Manufacturing Company in City Point, South Boston had a capacity of 500 barrels of oil a day. Jenney auto oil and gasoline became a major supplier by the time of 1920 and was a merged into Cities Service about 1965 and the Jenney name was ignobly replaced by Citgo.

I even have some of my Grandfather's old ad copy...

I phoned up the spiritual leader of Tibet

He sent me a large goat with a long neck....

It turns out that I called DIAL-A-LAMA.....

I love that one! Was your grandfather a illustrator?

No, that was a Corporate ad copy image to which his service station name and address was added.

For more history, his name was William McGrath (Mac) and he was a life long Dodge enthusiast. He got me hooked on Mopar at a very young age. When his Jenney Station was switched to Citgo after the Corporate name change, it was at around the same time that Dodge came out with the Scat Pack Bees and the Super bees. At the same time, Citgo released their "Bee" ad campaign and he loved that it was all in the same vein. He used to give me bee stickers to put on my toy cars.

It's also why all of my Dodge vehicles must have a bee on them...

So for you, there's really no question, whether to bee or not to bee?

No-one up yet?
I just had lunch after doing some swim training with my son at the local public pool. They have this test next week to see if they can swim 150m (500 feet) breaststroke and 50m (150 feet) backstroke. He did pretty ok. Practicing at the last minute seems to be his thing. Wonder where that came from ...
