I used to use a pick and small hammer to clean out the rust and dirt, set screwdriver on screw and whack it with aforementioned hammer. 75%. Remaining ones get a good sharp chisel on the edge to start it turning. 12.5%. Other 12.5% is a grinder,drill or explosives…
Clean the slots out and use a impact dtiver.

impact screwdriver. from harbor freight will do you just fine. If that wont get it use a 9mm. or 30-06.
