Close as in rusty Ford heads are close enough?
They look like they can be saved, but what do you plan to use those on?
I know you don't live in town but how big is Halifax?
I figure that when he and Marilyn go to town the population is reduced by 50%

According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 31.8 square miles (82.3 km2), of which 27.6 square miles (71.6 km2) is land and 4.1 square miles (10.7 km2), or 12.99%, is water.[5] Most of the surface water in the township is part of the Susquehanna River, which averages 1 mile (1.6 km) wide in this area. Powell Creek crosses the southern part of the township, and Armstrong Creek crosses the center, flowing into the Susquehanna north of Halifax borough.
As of the census[8] of 2000, there were 875 people, 386 households, and 240 families residing in the borough. The population density was 2,578.4 inhabitants per square mile (995.5/km2). There were 419 housing units at an average density of 1,234.7 per square mile (476.7/km2). The racial makeup of the borough was 98.40% White, 0.46% Asian, 0.11% from other races, and 1.03% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.37% of the population.
There were 386 households, out of which 32.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 43.8% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 37.6% were non-families. 33.2% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.27 and the average family size was 2.85.
In the borough the population was spread out, with 26.1% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 30.2% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.4 males.
The median income for a household in the borough was $31,597, and the median income for a family was $37,222. Males had a median income of $33,438 versus $24,643 for females. The per capita income for the borough was $16,443. About 7.7% of families and 11.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.8% of those under 18 and 13.6% of those over 64.
I checked my pile and I have a 3 904 transmissions I can use, which I know are good cores and there wasn't anything wrong with them other than being in parts cars or just not needed.

Definitately not diversified.

Morning all a quick stop before I take off for my gym workout, a haircut, and then a little golf this afternoon.
Yesterday, I graduated the final at PT glad to have that done. The past three weeks I had an 8am cardio class for an hour and then PT at 10 for 45 minutes. I was almost worn out by the time I'd go and walk and play 18 holes in the afternoon...gotta keep moving!!

All the later models like you have are good. THey all have the part throttle kick down in the valve body. THey aren't new enough to be lock ups. (1977 when lock ups started I believe)

Speaking of which... can not get the drain plug out of the park housing cover. Fortunately I had an extra I saved off a junk transmission... gotta clean it up but seems to be in good shape
I am not really trying to be cheap on purpose ...but I am working with stock stuff and my expectations are about stock.
If it ran as good as it did in 1980, id be happy and making miles.

Now I have a mercedes which is nice and powerful and comfortable but that's more my dad making me drive that because he thinks it's "safe"

Taking a little risk not knowing how good they are inside but you could drain the fluid, do a band adjustment. Install new input and output seals and speedo and shift shaft seals and run it. It would probably outlast the car.
Like Mike said, can try it if you knew they worked. The one in the Demon was in a junkyard in the back of a school bus. I rolled the dice as I was told the former owner hated mopar so he only kept what he knew was good. Never changed a seal or anything. Works great!
But it'll fit my motor
