Good morning all. Doing a 12 hour switch change. Wish I was still on nights but whatever. Got some 100spf sunblock to try and keep the skin safe. Was 113*F/45*C here last week.
And coming from Canada, through Upstate New York and PA. But might have been better that it was a vert, since it might not have been driven much in winter weather.
@DeltaV lives east of Rusty and they are supposed to get rain through Thursday. Maybe Rusty won't get hit as hard.

Varying spark, out of ideas
I've had for a while a problem with varying spark timing and it's been getting worse, varying about 3-4 deg each rotation. Now the engine runs pretty poorly at idle and does not get better with RPMs. I've put on a new distributor, cap and rotor included, and just checked point gap again...

"I have a cunning plan"
Plan is to pick up some materials later today and mock things up. The metal on the base provides the base for the seat and a place for the hog rings to attach.
I'll look again, but not sure that riveting would do it, the who bit along the bottom is about to turn to dust. I just took a picture of the worst area.
Still thinking a piece of metal rod along the bottom for a solid base, and then an inverted L-shape bit of sheet metal tagged to that for the ring attachment holes.
I'll need to separate the vertical frame parts from the rusted area. I think a cutting wheel or multi-tool should be able to do that.
Before I remove any of the rusted stuff, I'll mock up what I think is the answer and see if it makes sense in reality.
