BTW Wolfie - I saw that cat thread.. I had no idea... really good stuff! Probably a good thing I had just gone on vacation - my wife instantly fell in love with the kitty in first pic...

Some new stuff in the garage over the work bench. Let the organization begin!

No I just want a place to get the freak away from people. Id build a 19th century cabin and all. But sadly, kids and wife equals empty wallet.

Too far for me to weekend. Too bad you can't find some friends to partner with. I used to go to Canada with a family that partnered with 2 others and built a cabin on a lake there. They have been enjoying it since the end of WWII.

17k is an absolute steal....I am paying on 8 acres of Colorado dirt and it was 120k ....translates into 945. bucks of no mopar fun a month.

We had a couple of acres on a Lake in Maine. My Dad bought it in the mid 70s and gave it to us when it looked like I was going to be transferred to work in Boston. It had lake access and an old barn board cabin with a metal roof and front porch. It had electric, propane for cooking and heating and the drinking water came from a natural artesian spring. No more than a few dozen cabins around a 4500 acre natural lake with a depth of 121'. Mail is delivered by boat. I spent several Summers up there as a kid and loved it.

It was a real paradise, but alas I was never transferred to Boston and it was 8-1/2 hr drive from Philly to get there. Even further from Cinci and Memphis where we eventually wound up. We let some friends up there use it over the years but never really got to enjoy it ourselves. We finally sold it to one of them last year for a few thousand $$ and put the money back into my Father's Alzheimer's care account.
