How come the oil change shop tells me to change my oil every 3000 miles, but the oil life computer in my truck goes about 7500 miles? I was asked that question yesterday.. only answer i had was "Money, my dear, Money"..
I gots to go to work and celebrate. One thing for sure if we ever let inmates vote we could be in trouble. I had one pleading with me and said how could you vote for Trump? He's crazy he will be violent there will be riots. I asked him if he ever shot anyone....when he dropped his head I said then shut the ell up!

3000 mi. is an old school standard - newer vehicles and better oils allow you to run longer between changes
I think the Manufacturers each have their own parameters for necessity of oil changes. Also depends upon engine clearance/tolerances.

kinda like why you don't need to change the plugs for a bazillion miles.. mine has 162k+ on it - zero worry about the plugs

your truck has an "info. center" - it will show you the % of oil life you have left - it will also idiot light on when an oil change is needed

I dig the % report thing - no longer have to "worry" about how many miles I have put on since last change - every once in a while I just check the info - when I get to 10% life left, I go buy a new filter and oil...
Yep, smaller clearances (5w 20 oil) much better on oil wear I believe, but I still change my oil in my 2013 every 4.500, not the 7.000
In the cars that have the light /info I use it when it is close, everything else 3k or twice a year if I remember! Tractor every 100 hours so that is pretty much yearly.
