Would making shifter rods (linkage) for an OD833 be as straight forward as it seems? Or am i really overlooking something?

we're getting the "breeze" here too - gusts and all that - they said one county over that it would feel like 15-25 below by Sunday morning

they say OD rods are different than regular 4 speed rods but I seriously have used the regular 4 speed rods before on an OD. There is plenty of adjustment on the end swivels and all it really is, is one goes upside down. the reverse and one of the other ones is same dang thing as a regular 4 speed.

funny you bring up OD transmissions today ....I just scored one today and was talking about it in my Fireside Valiant chat LOL

Yeah, windchills around zero tonight and tomorrow night here. I'm staying in the house all weekend if I can!

speaking of being cold - I'm thinking it's "warmer" (friction is heat) upstairs than it is down here... you all stay warm too!! cyas!

I have a b body 833 with shifter and linkage. I want to put the shifter on the od a body unit. Rod lengths are completely different and was considering fabricating my own. Doesn't seem like rocket science but i dont want to crap it up either..

Nice thing about fabricating new ones...if they don't work quite right, you can always do another fabrication.

Shifter linkage isn't hard to make. Back in the day we would fab them up using all-thread rod stock, bend and cut, test fit, adjust, repeat. They usually worked out just fine and I had several sets go for years without issue once I got them right. It usually takes some hard driving/hard shifting to work the bugs out though.

My wife's cousin and her husband came by tonight for a visit. They drove down from New Hampshire to see my wife's brother before his liver cancer gets much worse. We haven't seen them for around 15 years. The last time was when they came down for an extended family reunion. They are good people and fighting health battles of their own. He has Parkinson's disease and it progressing. He is a nice honest, simple guy who enjoys people. He got a real kick out of the GTS and we spent quite a while in the garage while he checked it out. She is a middle school teacher and had a wonderful time visiting with my daughter (whom she has never met before) since she is the same age as her students.

It was nice to see them again and reconnect, but also sad given the circumstances which compelled them to come. I'm in an odd melancholy funk now. Helluva a way to start a weekend...
