The Manufacturing Engineer Overview

American Axle has openings for Manufacturing Engineers in the areas of Gears, Machining and Assembly. The general responsibilities are as follows:
Implements manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling and machinery to maximize throughput.
Establishes control charting of critical features and processes; monitors results and determines machine and process capabilities and performance reliability.
Manages the implementation of new processes, selection of equipment to be purchased, and time estimates.
Identifies optimal tooling for machining.

Resolves issues with design, manufacturability, or build sequences. Ensures production part acceptance and manufacturing readiness.
Participates in adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency. Consults on and oversees selection and implementation of automation and robotics on the assembly line.
Develop future drive line components within the manufacturing processes
Develop purchase specification packages for future equipment purchases
Cost analysis of capital expenditures
Simultaneous engineering of advanced drive line components
Travel 25% to up to 50%

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the manufacturing process in their area of expertise (Gears, Machining or Assembly).

Gears Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:
5 years’ experience in Helical gear or hypoid double gear process engineering
Experience with grinding, turning, etc.
Experience with single flank testing
Automotive experience preferred
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred)
Ability to travel 25% to 50%

Machining Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:

5 years’ experience in manufacturing machine engineering
Hands on plant experience with lathes, turning, milling, and prismatic parts
Experience in high volume part production
CNC programming
Knowledge of tooling and tooling applications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred)
Ability to travel 25% to 50%

Assembly Manufacturing Engineer:

5 years’ experience in manufacturing assembly engineering
5 plus yrs. manufacturing experience
Preferred automotive driveline equipment & assembly
Preferred product validation experience
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred)
Ability to travel at least 50%

WOW! I appear to be completely underqualified! Maybe they have a position available in the lunchroom?? I hope things go well. Sounds like a good oppurtunity.
 
The one I got from Tike, the "tikeytruck" LOL Got the motor running pretty good yesterday after I got most of the orange liquid out of the tank, still needs a good going through. I have a pic of the engine front I can post if it would help.

Would not hurt, moving slow this morning, I had two youngguns here yesterday helping me move clear out my shop and they moved all the heavy stuff out... memi had a couple cold brews as I watched them work ... you get the idea :glasses7::glasses7::glasses7:
 
I want to get the mechanical finished up today on it, I think they did not put the torque converter bolts in, it was a rush drop it in job years ago and he lost interest.
 
Think I'm getting up much earlier. And then gettin to it early !! LOL
 
I have been in a later cycle lately myself. Looks like the pop parts will be here today and I might get three stops out of it! LOL
 
Awesome !! I got a couple a small jobs around the shop today. Then I can get on the GTS.
 
I AM GOING TO GO AND GET A MULTITUDE OF FILTERS AND TUNE UP STUFF NOW THE tt RUNS, lATER ALL!

Thats one of them NASA motors, runs on Tang.
