Stop in for a cup of coffee

Ok, thanks!

It's great to have 'experts' on call. :thankyou:

Hey Anders, Do you get charged any fees when we send you parts in the mail...

I got a guy from Belguim trying to get me to sweeten the deal with some extras because he claims that he has to pay $100 fees to get the package...

I've never been charged any extra fees when I have gotten stuff from Canadian members through the mail...

Is this guy just trying to pump me for extras???

There's customs and import fees. Then sales tax is added as a percentage of the sales value PLUS all the fees. At least in Sweden. And here the sales tax is 25%.

So, yeah, there are fees but only if customs decide to check that particular box. The one you sent me escaped that scrutiny.

But you shouldn't agree to any deals. He's only buying from the states because it's WAY cheaper than in the Netherlands. Sure, taxes and shipping worsens the deal and many times it isn't economical to buy directly from summit unless you can do what I do, pack multiple orders in one box and ship USPS. But buying used parts that are hard to find vs buying new locally is way cheaper.

Of course it depends on what it is you're selling.

He's interested in the 4 bbl slant 6 intakes...

But why wait until I have it all packed, weighed, and ready to go to ask for extras so I have to repack and the shipping will go up...

I'm just going to throw in a trans filter and gasket kit and an old ignition switch...

Intakes as in more than one? My guess is he'll flip one of them to pay for shipping - or maybe even the other intake.

I'm also guessing he didn't realize how expensive shipping would be ...

I spent about a half hour packing them up yesterday for the quote... I taped them together with duct tape with cardboard in between, then also put cardboard on the head face to keep it from getting messed up... then put it all in another larger box, so it has to really puncture the box to damage the parts... They should be well insulated from damage...

So after doing all of that, the guy wants me to open it up and add more stuff.... :icon_fU: :BangHead:

I'm getting low on packing tape... I can 'find' some more when I go back to work... We use that stuff like Kotex there... Some days I go through 3-5 rolls in 3 hours... Sometimes I forget to take the half roll out of my pocket at the end of the shift...

The dutch are very friendly people so I would assume he isn't being an asswipe on purpose.

They did almost vote nationalist, though, but in general ...

Yeah, I think $100 in fees is a lot less than he will make on the spare intake. Just say no.

I just offered up a generic trans filter and gasket kit and a used ignition switch with a key..
