Stop in for a cup of coffee

Hey Karl. Your steering wheel in the last photo looks like a rim blow.

It could be...

I never looked at it that closely, it's the kid's car...

He does want to find another steering wheel, as his has the typical cracking and separating...

Good morning!

krazykuda, I would concur, that is an improvement over the old one.

Thanks. the kid thanked me for talking him into waiting for it before installing the dash.

I told him, that if we don't change it now, we'll never get back to it... #-o

So we waited a week while he saved up the money and ordered it... :glasses7:

It looks so much better than the old ratty looking one...

Morning All. Looks Great Karl !! That is a rim blow wheel. Had one on my 70 Swinger. It is an option.

Good morning Mitch, Yea Karl  That sure cleaned the dash up a bunch  congratulations getting that dun :coffee2:

Thanks, I'm dry here, it's the folks who are flooded that have it bad.
Glad to hear you are high and dry David :glasses7: I see there has been 7 deaths becouse of all the rain you are getting .

Morning Mitch and Memi. Any one got a BB 727 around? Fraged mine bad yesterday.

Put it this way, tuning the carb, Ron holding my beer, got on it, broke the front joint and all the tranny fluid on the ground. Filled it back up to look for a leak and there is a hole above the ouil pan on the back of the case. I guess it is tuned. The front almost came off the ground when I released the line lock! It is done.

It was an ok used tranny that had a valve body and a 2200 converter in it. Not really a big deal. Just looking for a running one for right now to rebuild when the motor comes out over the winter. Wish I had a vid of it.

Yeah, I need a strong one for sure. I guess I have to cancel the dyno time next week! LOL

I did my first one by myself for this car. Put the heavy duty clutches and bolt in sprag. Shift kit and all the upgrade mods. Been just sittin there for a year tryin to get in the car. Hope it works when I get it in there !!

I have a performance valve body from AJS in this one I will re use. I know I have to beef it up quite a bit. I never rebuilt one but I guess this will be the first. I have to get on craigslist and find a core I guess. Any year better than others? I do not know much about them. At that junkyard up here is an old Newport with a 383, late 60"s I think. Might have a tranny in it still.

Good morning y'all. Ray blowed it up huh? What do you mean by front joint?

Cracked the front U joint! Glad I have a loop! It was pretty bad. At least got the tikey truck figured out. Dropped the tank and the connector receptacle was really corroded. CLR and dielectric compound fixed that and the fuel sending unit is shot so time to change it and might as well put in a pump while it is out. I was surprised the tank was pretty clean considering the tang that was in it when I got it.

That's what I thought you were saying, but you said tuning carb... So you were driving it? I kiiled a project in a similar fashion many moons ago. 340/727 in a 71 cuda. Did not know history of tranny. Came with the engine. I rebuilt the engine, but did not work on the trans. First time on the road, got on it a little. Broke mount tabs btw engine and trans, tail off trans and through the drive shaft. :eek:ops: Pissed me off. Got it home and parted the car out. The body left pretty much intact, so may still be alive somewhere. Just wish it was still in my driveway.:violent1:
