Stop in for a cup of coffee

they are going to lay eggs and get bigger and bigger and leave their skins behind and usher in the evilness of their essence. If they were an awesome animal people wouldn't be creeped out with them.

Best solution is get a spade shovel and re-locate their heads and problem solved.

Rani Van Helsing! LOL

I need something to stop them from coming around. I don't mind them being around, just not right at my door. What's the best stuff to get?

A good cat or a mongoose...

Is it getting cold down there? Maybe they are seeking the heat coming through the glass door...

Are they poisonous?

How about squirrels?

Thanks Karl, I had no idea a squirrel would take down a snake, those were fun to watch!

I'm pretty sure the snakes I saw are common harmless "yard" snakes. I've had time to think about it, and as long as I don't leave doors open and I look where I'm stepping, I'm not going to worry. I just got a little creeped out today thinking that snake might have been able to come in while I was dozing on the couch. These were the first two I've ever even seen since I moved here. "Just passing through" maybe.

I checked online and they say the snake repellent granules are a waste of money. I got some good laughs reading people's reviews of those products, the elaborate detail they went into, talking about their snake troubles.

The squirrels here down south...I've never seen them fight a snake. More often you'll see a squirrel's guts on the sidewalk where it was killed by a cat. Maybe southern squirrels are like me, afraid of snakes.

You're welcome for the videos.

I bet southern squirrels also chase them away, but you just don't see when they do it...

But if you have a few squirrels making a home in your yard/trees, then they may protect it from snakes coming in as the third video shows...

Did you notice how the squirrel in the rattlesnake video was swishing his tail all the time? I think that it may help confuse the snake on where to strike, or make the squirrel look bigger as a defense mechanism for fighting a poisonous snake. You don't see the tail swishing so much with the non poisonous snakes in the first two videos. They seem to sense the increased danger of the poisonous snakes.

Here's some interesting snake trivia:

If there is a fight between a cobra and a mongoose, bet on the mongoose... The mongoose will win most of the time...

If it's a fight between a mongoose and a rattlesnake, bet on the rattlesnake... They have a faster strike and will usually beat the mongoose...

That makes me wonder if the rattlesnake can beat a cobra in a fight..... #-o

A non poisonous king snake can kill a rattlesnake. they have an immunity to the rattlesnake poison and can take many bites and not be affected. Then they will eat the rattlesnake..

My wife very resolutely did that when I was showing a newly hatched snake in the garden of our summer house. We only have one species of poisonous snake here in Sweden and this was one of them. They are very common in the rocky landscape of the west coast but they are not really any more poisonous than a wasp so unless you're allergic you'll be fine.

Our little moment of nature studies was terminated by a protective mother with a shovel. :D

-DAYUM!!!!! I never knew that a squirrel would take down a freakin snake!!!!! I couldn't believe just how relentless the first one was.............. The other 2 vids were definitely interesting after the first one!

-I got a Himalayan Cat, thats taken down 2 squirrels, and one snake just this summer alone.......... Gray squirrels tho, not "ground squirrels" as the one guy put it but Ben is a pretty BIG cat..... Snakes were not nearly as big tho, as well.

If 67 Power Wagon just went to bed, yes. Us Europeans don't count. We've established that.

Yes, she gets pretty much everything she wants today. The older brother (almost 11) does not approve ... Big sister (almost 13) doesn't mind too much.
