Stop in for a cup of coffee

Had a good teaching momont with the oldest son last night...

He started pulling the pass suspension off of his 72 challenger so we could rebuild it. We have all the new parts ready to go.

He likes to do short spurts of work, then take a break...

Last night, I helped him split the upper and lower ball joints, then he said "that's enough"...

I said, "you're not getting off that easy, we're going to keep on going some more.."

Then we started pulling the UCA and one of the bolts broke off, and we couldn't get it free.... :banghead:

Then he said, "I'm getting tired and have to work in the morning, let's stop here.."

I told him, "Not now, this is personal... We're going to get this apart tonight if it's the last thing that we do.." :angryfir:

Then I got out the propane torch (and propane accessories) and heated it up real good, and then put the Ingersoll Rand impact wrench on it again, and the bolt broke free and spun... Then we were able to walk the bolt out...

We then cleaned up for the night as it was coming up on midnight...

I think he enjoyed pushing that extra to make a clean stopping point....

I told him, "Just keep making short term goals and try to go that little extra to accomplish them. It helps you make more progress..." :violent1:

I have to get him hooked into that mind set...

Oh, more news...

We've been having this rancid smell in the garage for the past few days or so... Maybe going on 4-5...

It smells like something died in there. So we start looking around and couldn't find anything for a few days...

We finally found it last night!!!

A chipmonk had snuck in the garage when it was open and hid, then eventually starved to death and started rotting away....

I threw his carcus in the back creek to get rid of it....

Glad it's gone and we can get the garage aired out...

Maybe burn an incense or citranella candle to help cover the smell...

Wow you seem to have a lot of chipmunks up there! Spray some pine sol around it repels them.

Yup, because now, when he comes back to it he will have a sense of a fresh start as opposed to coming back with the frustration of still having to deal with it. It helps to keep the interest up and the frustration down.

So KK what are you doing on your B day? Chuckie Cheese?

We'll see if my brother even remembers and maybe will take us out to dinner... #-o

But I'm not holding my breath....

Last year he finally realized it was my birthday three weeks later.... #-o

It feels like we're growing apart since mom died... :pale:

I agree.

He was very positive about it after we finished. He's catching on...

He wants to pick up where we left off today after he gets off work, if he's not too tired.

Or let him get in a couple hour nap and see if he's ready then...

He's catching on to budget his time.

We just dropped the engine in his Valiant a few days ago.

Now we're starting to tear the front suspension off the Challenger.

We need to keep going on both of them, so we'll keep going on one until we hit a road block, then go to the other one while we figure out the plan for the other...

We rebuilt the suspension on the Valiant already, now he's comparing the differences to the Challenger suspension...

My brother and sister and I defiantly grew apart when Dad died. He was the glue in the family.

The younger son and I picked up his motorcycle from his friends' house. His friends dad works on them all the time and has been helping him get it fixed. The wiring was screwed up and he got the turn signals, headlight, and brake light working. Then helped him get it running better.

So I helped him pick it up with our truck.

Luckily one side of our drive way is higher than the other and we take advantage of that when we load and unload his bike into the back. Then we don't have to lift it as high, and just drop the tailgate and roll it off slowly...

Here's his motorcycle, it's an old Yamaha Enduro 175 from the late 70's. It's in real nice condition for it's age...

He got it so he can legally drive it up and down the street and the a-hole next door can't call the police on him. He's got his tags and insurance for it, so he's totally legal, and I've forwarded the info to the police chief so if there are any complaints, I can just tell the cops that show up to talk to their chief as he is well aware of what's going on and that we are fully legal with the motorcycle...

Yep, I hate when I can't get past a certain point in a job...come back next day doing the same thing sucks. Once I get rolling on a job I don't like to stop. I'm like, 'gonna get this part done if it kills me'. That little bit of sleep you miss is nothing compared to the feeling of accomplishment. When you go back to work on it again, it's like " that's right, I kicked your a$$ last time. What's next?" lol

Like the pop windshield, you made me feel like a fool when you "popped" it in in no time!

See ya. I might be out your way on Wed. I have a load delivering in Grinnell Wed. morning. Then I need to find a backhaul.

If you ever have time while passing through, I'm not far from exits 148B or 145 off of I-80 in IL.... 2-3 exits after 1-294 splits off from I-80... (right after I-57)...

There's a good Chinese buffet just off of exit 145, we can do lunch...

Yep, but it may be better for your sleep to conquer it before, so it doesn't keep you awake stewing about it.... :angry2:

That little bit of sleep that you miss by getting-r-dun may also help you fall asleep earlier and not lie there worrying about it.... :disgust:

Once you conquer it, your mind is at ease and can fall to sleep faster/easier.... :sleepy1: :sleepy2:

Then you come back the next time with the attitude, "Who's the beyotch now???" LOL :D

Say ... That's a nice bike*.

I love that style and it sure looks like it's in great condition!

* Anybody spot the movie reference?

Well, happy birthday then! :eek:ccasion:

Yes, I don't feel like I don't count but being six to ten hours ahead, it's kind of cheating when it comes to being first in the thread in the morning. :)

And Ters is one hour ahead of me so I wouldn't want him to count either. :D

Hope you had a wonderful Birthday Krazykuda!:eek:ccasion: Early bird catches the worm?! Lol! South African (where I stay) time - GMT+2

Enjoy the "coffee" you guys/girl serve immensely!

Ters.
