Stop in for a cup of coffee

Hehehe....Yup Car Money....
Well just got an email from the machine shop. Says the block is usable as it sits as long as we change out the cam bearings. So that's 2 shops saying its usable. Guy said he'd change out the bearings for 35 bucks plus the cost of the bearings. Also stated that if we kept the deck height as is, my CR would be about 9.5:1 with the pistons used. about a full point below my intended goal. So that's good news

Yeah the Max compression I can get out of these numbers 383 blocks, is 9.65 , using KB400's and the stock 906 heads. That's good enough for a resto project. Now the A990, Stroker, is a completely different matter. I'll probably go for 10 or 10.5, and try to keep a dynamic of 8.5 , to use pump gas, but that motor with breath very deep, with the other ingredients Im using.

yeah, according to desktop dyno, i'll still be flirting near that 475-500 hp mark with the Marsh heads. so the compression ratio drop is killing about 100 hp

Yeah, well check the dynamic ratio, because you don't want to be over 8.5, if ya wanna use pump gas...So. yur probably ok

yeah im under that. I'd figured my 10.5 to 1 ratio to be right at the 8.5 dynamic ratio so i should be well under it for 91- 93 octance

A lot of the Dynamic ratio depends upon the camshaft, used, So be aware of that. Overlap in the numbers makes a big difference.

Not crazy on the comp HL series. I have one in a big block and it's noisy. Do some research on those cams

Search the internet and Moparts. The reports are all the same I have a HL295 in mine and it's noisy. Always sound like the valves need adjusted.

hmm what cam along those specs would you recommend? Been considering a custom grind from Oregon cam grinders as well.

Sup , George ?? That motor will be ready tomorrow, After I get some more Copper Coat Spray... LOL

It lives!

I don't know why he did that. I think he wanted to show it to me. He put it on the table but it didn't seem sturdy enough.
